CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to join our Bridge Team in Hartford, CT; Burlington, MA; Keene, NH; Albany, NY; Indianapolis, IN; or Columbus, OH . In this role, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of bridge-focused transportation projects—contributing to solutions that improve resilience, manage risk, and advance the future of our transportation networks.
What You'll Do:
Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for bridge projects
Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices for safety and infrastructure resilience
Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical bridge infrastructure projects
Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related disciplines required
Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
DOT hydraulic modeling and bridge design experience required
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the hydraulic engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, bridge and/or culvert design, bridge scour evaluations, and FEMA floodplain evaluation, as well as proven ability to practically apply it in a professional environment
Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (HEC-RAS, TR-20, SMS SRH2D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
Experience with Open Channel required
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $95,000
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
