Learn more about our <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https://hrportal.ehr.com/applied/\"><u>benefits</u></a>. </p><p> </p><p> </p>As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.<p> </p><p> </p><p><b>Role Responsibilities:<span>  </span></b></p><ul><li><div><h3><b>Technical Expertise</b></h3><ul><li>Independently identify, diagnose, and resolve complex mechanical tooling and fixture challenges with minimal supervision.</li><li>Demonstrated hands‑on proficiency in <b>UG/NX</b> for 3D modeling, detailed design, and drafting.</li><li>Perform detailed <b>engineering analyses</b> on mechanical systems, tooling, and fixtures, providing recommendations based on sound engineering principles.</li><li>Develop, design, and modify <b>layouts, drawings, and specifications</b> for mechanical systems and tooling of advanced technical scope.</li><li>Implement innovative concepts and solutions to address complex product issues and mechanical design challenges.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Tooling &amp; Fixture Design Responsibilities</b></h3><ul><li>Design, develop, and implement <b>custom mechanical tooling and fixturing</b> for manufacturing, assembly, disassembly, repair, inspection, and handling operations.</li><li>Establish tooling and process standards across manufacturing or operational workflows to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement through process analysis, identifying optimization opportunities in tooling, methods, and engineering workflows.</li></ul><h3><b>Testing &amp; Documentation</b></h3><ul><li>Define test requirements, coordinate execution, and document <b>engineering test plans and reports</b> for tooling and mechanical systems.</li><li>Prepare, review, and approve detailed <b>engineering documentation</b>, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Project Leadership &amp; Cross-Functional Collaboration</b></h3><ul><li>Technically lead or independently execute mechanical design and tooling projects from concept through implementation.</li><li>Develop and collaborate with key suppliers; create and validate <b>mechanical product specifications</b> and tooling requirements.</li><li>Interpret and communicate complex or sensitive technical information clearly and professionally to cross-functional teams.</li><li>Build alignment and consensus across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and leadership teams regarding tooling solutions and engineering decisions.</li></ul></div></li></ul><p><br /><b>Minimum Qualifications:<span>  </span></b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s degree</p></li><li><p>8-12 years of experience</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated experience with CAD software, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&amp;T, and/or Design for Excellence principle</p></li></ul><p><br /><b>Preferred Qualifications:<span>  </span></b></p><ul><li><p>Knowledge of the Applied Materials product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection and manufacturing methods <span> </span></p></li></ul><p>Any SPM back ground</p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Additional Information</b></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Time Type:</b></p>Full time<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Employee Type:</b></p>Assignee / Regular<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Travel:</b></p>Yes, 10% of the Time<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Relocation Eligible:</b></p>Yes<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\">Applied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
