As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Nephrology</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>As one of the top-ranked kidney care programs in the nation, the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Mercy provides family-centered care for children and teens with kidney diseases.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement for patient populations in the Children’s Mercy Nephrology Clinic, Wichita.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The APP provides outpatient nephrology care for children with a variety of kidney diagnoses in the outpatient nephrology clinic and via telehealth encounters based in Children’s Mercy, Wichita.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Diagnoses include, but are not limited to, enuresis, hypertension, genetic kidney disorders, glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, stages I-IV, congenital anomalies, and dysplasia.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Children’s Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.</em></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. or</li>\n <li>Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) - preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.</li>\n <li>Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire</li>\n <li>Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire</li>\n <li>RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO</li>\n <li>APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire</li>\n <li>Successful completion of national board certification in one of the following:</li>\n <li>Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) in MO & KS Required Upon Hire</li>\n <li>Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire</li>\n <li><strong>PNP-Primary Care will be required</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li><strong>candidate will have two years to enroll/be accepted in a program and five years to complete the program</strong></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>EEO Employer/Disabled/Vet</h2>\n<p>Children’s Mercy hires individuals based on their job skills, expertise and ability to maintain professional relationships with fellow employees, patients, parents and visitors.
