As a Adult Medicine Medical Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in our mission, supporting our providers and ensuring our patients receive the best care possible.</p><ul><li><strong>Role Highlights:</strong>&#160;You'll assist in all exams and minor office procedures, maintaining a well-stocked and clean exam environment.</li><li><strong>Impactful Work:</strong>&#160;Be a crucial part of our patients' healthcare journey by administering injections, drawing blood, and more.</li><li><strong>Community Focus:</strong>&#160;Join a team that values relationships and collaboration, working together to make a difference.</li><li><strong>Growth Opportunities:</strong>&#160;Benefit from mentorship and personal development as you grow with us.</li><li><strong>Team Dynamics:</strong>&#160;Work in a supportive environment where your contributions are valued and celebrated.</li></ul><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><ul><li>Interview patients to gather medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.</li><li>Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records.</li><li>Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for testing.</li><li>Assist physicians during patient examinations, providing instruments and materials as needed.</li><li>Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and supply restocking.</li><li>Clean and sterilize instruments and manage contaminated supplies.</li><li>Conduct phone consultations regarding test results and health concerns.</li><li>Process specimens, ensuring proper labeling and packaging for lab pickup.</li><li>Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests.</li><li>Administer medications as ordered, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical.</li><li>Ensure proper documentation of patient care activities.</li><li>Stock exam rooms with supplies, checking for expired items, and managing waste.</li><li>Participate in OSHA compliance programs and performance improvement initiatives.</li><li>Promote a respectful and courteous environment for all patients and staff.</li><li>Work collaboratively within a primary care medical home model.</li><li>Attend safety training programs and adhere to safety protocols.</li><li>Maintain work area and equipment per Legacy and governmental standards.</li><li>Report safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans.</li><li>Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment and maintain a safe environment.</li><li>Attend annual education programs and perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h2><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li><li>BLS/CPR Certification required</li><li>Up to one year experience</li><li>Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.</li><li>Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experience</li><li>Ability to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team</li><li>Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care delivery</li><li>Experience working with computers</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office applications.</li><li>Bilingual English/Spanish preferred</li><li>Phlebotomy skills preferred</li><li>Experience with electronic medical records, preferred.</li></ul><h2><strong>About Legacy Community Health</strong></h2>As the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Texas, Legacy Community Health has been delivering comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable health care for nearly 40 years.
