Candidates will be considered based on their experience and long-term career interests. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Physician will attend to the needs of all liver transplant and hepatology patients within the scope of licensing, training and credentialing. Attend to the medical needs of all patients by performing patient care activities to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a Physician and assist in generating adequate practice volume. The Physician will participate in on-call duties and actively participate in meetings and committees. Practice medicine within the current scope of national patient safety goals. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:• Serve as a transplant hepatologist in the Emory Transplant Center with an active inpatient and outpatient practice, with coverage and practice responsibilities across Emory-owned and affiliated hospitals.• Maintain an academic appointment in the Gastroenterology Division, Department of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine.• Participate in efforts to provide outstanding clinical care, maintain/improve quality and patient safety, access to and management of clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in the field of adult abdominal transplant.• Have particular efforts focused on clinical or basic research, quality improvement, and/or education.• Participate in committees, patient selection conference, peer review, present cases in the M&M case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures according department guidelines, and adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the practice of abdominal transplant.• Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents and fellows and other rotators through the transplant service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Must possess a Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree (D.O.). • Board certified in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology• Must hold a valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.• Completion of an accredited Transplant Hepatogology Fellowship.• A controlled Substance Registration Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate without restriction. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
