    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Electric Boat Security Organization is currently accepting applications for armed Security Officers for our Plant Protection Department. As a member of our Security Organization you will be responsible for the protection of employees, the product, facility and technology that are integral to the defense of our nation. The Security Organization performs a critical role in supporting the business.</p>\n<p>An Electric Boat Security Officer is required to perform many varied tasks, including the enforcing of regulations and directives, as they pertain to personnel, visitors and facilities. This includes maintaining access control into and throughout our facilities. Officers may be required to patrol or respond to calls for service on the facility by foot or vehicle, and have the necessary physical ability to perform such duties. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Respond to and assess security alarms or emergency situations</li>\n <li>Maintain access control of our internal access points</li>\n <li>Conduct security checks of our off – site facilities</li>\n <li>Preserve order and enforce rules, regulations and directives</li>\n <li>Maintain professionalism, while ensuring the highest quality security services in the protection of personnel, property and information</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Must have the ability for these specific duties and essential functions:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Working in all weather and industrial environments applicable to Electric Boat</li>\n <li>Standing for extended periods of time</li>\n <li>Climbing ladders</li>\n <li>Entering confined spaces</li>\n <li>Having and maintaining a valid motor vehicle operator’s license</li>\n <li>Obtaining and retaining a local and state pistol permit with State of CT Security Officer endorsement</li>\n <li>Must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense security clearance</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Hourly rates from $22.99 - $33.96</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Required:</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent</li>\n <li>Prior security related experience</li>\n <li>Must possess a valid motor vehicle license from state of residency</li>\n <li>Must possess a valid CT State pistol permit at the time of application</li>\n <li>Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance</li>\n <li>Must be a U.S. citizen & 21+ years of age</li>\n <li>Must be able to obtain and maintain a State of Connecticut Security Officer endorsement.</li>\n <li>Candidates must pass a post offer neuropsychological evaluation prior to hiring</li>\n <li>Must have vision correctable to 20/20</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Preferred:</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>4 or more years Military, Law Enforcement, Dept. of Corrections, Armed Security or Associates Degree – Criminal Justice Homeland Security or related field of study.</li>\n <li>Industrial or Nuclear Security Experience</li>\n <li>Experience monitoring access control points</li>\n <li>Experience monitoring and using CCTV</li>\n <li>Experience working as a security officer in a large crowd</li>\n <li>Security experience protecting nuclear materials</li>\n <li>Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance</li>\n <li>Valid CT State Pistol Permit with (Blue Card/Class 1) endorsement</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Skills Preferred</u></strong><strong>:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors</li>\n <li>Ability to use computer and software applications (Microsoft word, Excel)</li>\n <li>Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public</li>\n <li>Effective oral and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Active listening skills</li>\n <li>Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively</li>\n <li>Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately</li>\n <li>Attention to detail</li>\n <li>Must be able to work varying shifts to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime</li>\n <li>Must have access to reliable transportation</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Qualifications</h2>Climbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting\n<h2>Environmental Attributes</h2>Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet",
