Together, we are EXP.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><strong>Your work environment at EXP</strong></span></p>\n<p>EXP’s St. John’s Earth and Environmental group is currently seeking a <strong>Materials Testing Technician/ Technologist</strong> for its materials testing laboratory in Mount Pearl and projects in St. John’s and surrounding areas.&nbsp; Reporting to the Practice Manager, the successful candidate will provide appropriate technical services to Project Managers and Engineers for those projects assigned.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>What a day at EXP has in store for you</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Working closely with Project Managers, the successful candidate will be responsible mainly for the completion of laboratory testing and also various field inspections, and associated reporting for laboratory testing and construction projects.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>The successful candidate will be responsible for: \n  <ul>\n   <li>Executing laboratory materials testing (asphalts suites; concrete compressive strength testing; grain size analysis, proctors, etc.) and field inspection work as may be necessary (asphalt – field compaction; concrete – field casting of concrete cylinders, slump, air content; soil – field compaction testing);</li>\n   <li>Executing assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of materials laboratory/field testing, geotechnical engineering, general construction, earth moving projects and civil engineering;</li>\n   <li>Preparing clear and concise laboratory testing and field inspection reports, and review, as necessary, laboratory and field inspection reports;</li>\n   <li>Interacting with clients to provide excellent service and quick response to their testing needs;&nbsp;</li>\n   <li>Working in compliance with various standards and specifications, including EXPs internal QMS system.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><strong>What your experience looks like</strong></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Civil Engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized technical college, or equivalent experience, and be eligible for registration with Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologist of Newfoundland and Labrador (AETTNL);</li>\n <li>CCIL certification is an asset;</li>\n <li>Experience in materials laboratory and field testing and geotechnical settings (concrete, soils, asphalt testing, test pits and boreholes);</li>\n <li>Applies knowledge with CCIL, ASTM and CSA testing methodology and laboratory and field testing procedures;</li>\n <li>Familiar with various civil, earth moving and construction projects;</li>\n <li>Effective oral and technical written communication skills;</li>\n <li>Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office – WORD, EXCEL).
