You join a community that respects who you are away from work as much as what you do while at work.  </p><p></p><p><b>Where Your Career is a Force for Good!</b> </p><p><b><i><span>WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW </span></i></b></p><p>Our Medical Directors deliver consultation, education and oversight of transfusion medicine to ensure safe execution of programs and increase knowledge within and outside of the Red Cross. Promote and provide patient services, coordinate medical communications, and develop and implement medical policies and procedures. Develop new theories and solutions, conduct research of emerging topics and provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. </p><p></p><p><b><i><span>WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD</span></i></b><span> </span></p><p>1.Provide medical consultation in transfusion medicine, blood banking and patient services to hospital customers. Maintain robust and supportive relationships with hospital customers.</p><p>2. Provide continuing medical education, including promoting the safe and effective use of blood components, through interaction with external customers and internal audiences and participation on relevant committees.</p><p>3. Direct patient service programs including but not limited to therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection and processing, perioperative autologous cell salvage, and patient blood management.</p><p>4. Direct the medical aspects of regulated blood center operations including collections, donor management, recipient adverse reactions, suspect product investigations, and other operational systems.</p><p>5. Participate in the development of procedures, policies or position statements on medical criteria for donor eligibility and safety, component quality, and transfusion practice.</p><p>6. Serve as CLIA Laboratory Director for regulated collection activities, immunohematology laboratories, HLA laboratories, stem cell collection and processing, and/or national testing laboratories.</p><p>7. Investigate concerns and complaints related to donor complications, recipient transfusions, customer service, or hospital relationships including necessary notification of Leadership by interacting with the Donor and Client Support Center to ensure timely completion, documentation and reporting.</p><p></p><p><b><i><span>WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED </span></i></b></p><ul><li><p><b>Education: </b> M.D. or D.O. degree with post-graduate training/specialization in blood banking/transfusion medicine required.</p></li><li><p>Must currently be board certified or eligible in internal medicine, pediatrics or clinical pathology. </p></li><li><p>Board certified or eligible in blood banking/transfusion medicine or equivalent is highly desirable. </p></li><li><p>Current state licenses, certifications, and specialty boards may be required.</p></li><li><p><b>Experience:</b> Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Experience in blood banking/transfusion medicine, blood center operations, or medical/scientific research is desired. </p></li><li><p><b>Demonstrated knowledge and experience in immunohematology, including red cell serology, antibody identification, and compatibility testing, is required. </b></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Management Experience: N/A</p><ul><li><p>Skills &amp; Abilities: Customer Focus, teamwork and collaboration ensure customer satisfaction and maximize internal/external relationships.  </p></li><li><p>Effective presentation Skills with a variety of internal/external individuals and groups.</p></li><li><p>Possesses active and attentive listening considering all opinions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to effectively set priorities and apply sound judgement to eliminate roadblocks to accomplishing goals.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of immunohematology principles and laboratory practices, with the ability to provide expert clinical consultation on complex immunohematologic cases.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work on a team.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>This position is designed as a <b>remote role</b>, allowing flexibility in the primary work location. Requiring a <b>regular onsite presence and travel</b> <b>(requiring 8-10 hours of onsite work per week) </b>to support business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to travel periodically and be onsite within the designated region as needed. This position will NOT be eligible for relocation assistance. Travel: Must be willing to reside in or near <b>Greater Philadelphia area </b>(or regularly travel to this area)</p><p></p><p>*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience and certifications cannot be substituted).</p><p></p><p><i>WHAT WILL SET YOU APART</i></p><p>Fellowship training or significant experience:</p><ul><li><p>Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, and/or Regenerative Medicine</p></li><li><p>Proven leadership in expanding clinical programs and driving innovation.</p></li><li><p>Experience in developing and implementing cutting-edge medical practices in transfusion and cellular therapies.</p></li><li><p>Exceptional verbal and written skills for engaging stakeholders, including hospital leadership, donors, and external partners</p></li></ul><p></p><p>The salary range for this position is $195,500-$250,000</p><p>This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.</p><p>Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed.
