Description

Overview D437 is hiring Mechanical Engineers to support construction, delivery, configuration management, and certification of COLUMBIA Class ships. This position is to be located at the Electric Boat Quonset Point facility. The assignment will involve assessment / analysis of technical issues and support of construction and testing of missile tubes and associated mechanical systems. Candidates will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during missile tube construction and testing. Candidates may be required to work overtime as necessary to resolve emergent problems and support program schedule goals. Some travel may be required, including potential travel to the UK. Positions require constant interface with management, Shipyard Operations, US and UK Navy personnel, Navy subcontractor technical personnel, hardware suppliers, and a variety of EB disciplines including Engineering, Program Office, Quality, and Materials Management. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, be highly motivated, detail oriented, and be able to perform independently. The successful candidates will be expected to take personal responsibility for their work to ensure that it is of the highest quality and meets all requirements while meeting schedule constraints. Qualifications Required: Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance 0 – 5 years of professional experience in a related Engineering capacity Preferred: Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, NDT, dimensional inspection) Ability to interpret 2D design products including knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Experience with Teamcenter for Change Management Knowledge of 3-dimensional inspection techniques is a plus, especially with spatial analyzer software Skills Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to communicate / interact with a wide variety of people and personalities. Candidate should be highly motivated, able to perform independently and possess strong organizational skills.
