Description

St. Francis Center (SFC), established in June 1983, serves as a refuge for people experiencing homelessness in the metro Denver area. Our programs support adults through daytime shelter, social services, health and wellness, housing, employment, and outreach. At SFC, guests can access a variety of specialists to meet their individual needs, often the first step toward stability, transformation, and long-term self-sufficiency. We are currently seeking a Peer Support Professional for our Non-Congregant Shelter. This is a Full Time, position and includes an excellent benefits package. This position will join our team on January 1, 2026. POSITION OVERVIEW The Peer Support Professional works at the Non-Congregant Shelter and provides direct peer navigation, guest engagement, and service coordination with internal teams and community partners. Job Responsibilities (duties include but are not limited to) Engage and develop rapport with guests at the NCS – Comfort Inn/Stone Creek using trauma-informed and person-centered practices to support stabilization and connection to Peer Navigation services. Initiate supportive, intentional conversations with guests and assist with basic needs, including clothing and hygiene resources. Assist guests in accessing cash and non-cash benefits, referrals, and community resources that help reduce barriers to housing—including obtaining vital documents (ID, birth certificate, Social Security card). Complete accurate and timely HMIS data entry , including goals, outcomes, assessments, referrals, case notes, and other required information. Conduct or support One Home assessments , ensuring compliance with coordinated entry processes. Write clear, timely, and detailed case notes following SFC and funder documentation standards. Utilize HMIS case management billing codes correctly to ensure services are accurately documented and billed. Support guest transportation needs and assists guests in preparing for appointments related to medical care, behavioral health, benefits, or other essential services; accompany guests to appointments as needed. Coordinate supportive services with community partners, SFC case managers, and external providers to promote continuity of care. Lead wellness groups, peer-support activities, and other community-building initiatives. Support housing navigation efforts and help guests develop readiness skills and independent-living abilities. Requirements / Qualifications Must have lived experience with homelessness and be stably housed for at least three years prior to employment. High School Diploma or GED required. Certification in Peer Support is preferred. Ability to manage conflict, remain grounded in stressful situations, and respond empathetically to traumatic stories. Strong understanding and practice of professional boundaries. Ability to listen with care, treat guests with dignity, and adapt support to each individual’s needs. Willingness to participate in agency-wide and role-specific training and to provide peer services in a trauma-informed, consistent manner. Basic computer proficiency required; familiarity with Microsoft Office programs preferred. Background check required. Ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds; various lifestyles; all ages; and all gender identities. Valid driver’s license required. Compensation and Benefits: $21-$24/hour This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
