    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Aquatics Coordinator</strong></p>\n<p>Under the Aquatics Director, the Coordinator- Aquatics is responsible to maintain a safe aquatic environment. In the absence of the Aquatic Director, the Aquatics Coordinator will supervise staff, maintain facility operations, assist in the administrative duties of the Aquatics Department, instruct swimming lessons and lifeguard to ensure the safety of members and participants. Provide excellent customer service to members and participants.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more on Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedule:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Wednesday / Thursday / Friday - 11am to 7:30pm </li>\n <li>Saturday - 6:45am to 3:15pm </li>\n <li>Sunday - 7:45am to 4:15pm </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Assists Aquatics Director in the administration of the aquatics department, including scheduling of staff to cover all shifts and lessons and returning telephone calls within 24 hours</li>\n <li>Assists in the implementation of new aquatics programs</li>\n <li>Resolve problems with members and participants and the facility and report any problems to the Aquatics Director when immediate actions cannot fix the problem</li>\n <li>Ensure that pump room operations, including chemical levels, water clarity, and chlorine/ acid tanks are at the appropriate levels and standards</li>\n <li>Maintain proper functioning of pool equipment (certification required)</li>\n <li>Perform chemical tests and maintenance duties as scheduled when not lifeguarding</li>\n <li>Report any problems/ hazards with facility and staff incidents to Aquatic Director when immediate actions cannot fix the problem</li>\n <li>Supervise Aquatic Staff, in the absence of the Aquatic Director, to ensure all facility policies are being enforced and observed by staff</li>\n <li>Assist in the training and development of staff at staff trainings and on the job</li>\n <li>Practice preventive lifeguard techniques at all times to include but not limited to the following:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Positioned to have full view of the area of responsibility above and below water surface</li>\n   <li>Area of responsibility not greater than 180 degrees</li>\n   <li>Scan area of responsibility every 5 to 10 seconds</li>\n   <li>Must have contact with victim within 10 seconds</li>\n   <li>Remain within 2 feet of the pool at all times</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Perform appropriate rescues</li>\n <li>Administer First Aid, CPR, AED or 02 as necessary</li>\n <li>Conduct Lifeguard Drills including securing victim, observing staff and debriefing</li>\n <li>Participate in scheduled and random lifeguard drills</li>\n <li>Ensure adequate patron-to-lifeguard ratios are maintained at all times</li>\n <li>Instructor follows logical skill progressions, and covers appropriate amount on information in time available</li>\n <li>Develop, implement, and evaluate aquatic programming options for a diverse membership base</li>\n <li>Outreach to, enroll and retain class participants to support and help grow our membership</li>\n <li>Budget development and oversight to meet the fiscal goals and responsibilities of the swim lesson programs</li>\n <li>Ensure that aquatics staff have updated certifications that meet YMCA of San Diego County standards</li>\n <li>Regularly inspect pool facility, chemical readings and related areas to ensure a fun, clean and safe environment</li>\n <li>Development, administration and coordination of accurate departmental records pertaining to aquatic instruction, including program benchmarks and patron usage. Monitor program participation and monthly statistics</li>\n <li>Take a leadership role on branch special events throughout the year that serve the needs of the community</li>\n <li>Actively participate on YMCA clusters and committees that provide leadership and oversight to aquatics department in the absence of the Department Head of Aquatics</li>\n <li> Visual and auditory ability to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations</li>\n <li>Ability to adequately observe participant’s activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum age of 18 years of age</li>\n <li>Minimum 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard </li>\n <li>Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification or American Red Cross WSI (must crossover to YMCA within 6 months) </li>\n <li>Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (must crossover to YMCA in 6 months)</li>\n <li>Lifeguard Instructor certification, desirable</li>\n <li>Current First Aid for Public Safety Personnel and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart </li>\n <li>Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current CPR PRO/AED and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.</li>\n <li>Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment</li>\n <li>Previous experience in supervision of staff</li>\n <li>Must pass written and practical skills prior to duty</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
