Job Overview
The Specialist Mentorship and Induction T2 will be responsible for the management and implementation of the District's comprehensive induction and mentorship plan for teachers in specialized job roles including electives and those serving special populations. The incumbent will oversee implementation of novice teacher mentorship and induction cohorts to support retention of teachers through cohort based mentorship and job embedded professional learning aligned to the District's instructional priorities for the assigned teacher group. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in the area of induction and mentorship to promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, Organize, and Evaluate Induction & Mentorship Implement, monitor, and evaluate the District induction and mentorship plan for specialized job role teachers including elective teachers and those assigned to support special populations Facilitate the alignment of induction and mentorship programs to support novice and pre-service teachers Serve as cohort leader for defined novice and pre-service teacher cohorts to ensure effective assimilation into the teaching profession Design, coordinate, and conduct professional learning opportunities aligned to the teacher development framework to support the growth and development of novice and pre-service teachers Collect and analyze data to measure the implementation and impact of mentorship and induction activities on the growth, development, and retention of novice teachers Build Capacity to Support Implementation of Learning Facilitate the development of mentoring and induction programs, guided teacher observations, novice teacher cohorts, instructional support videos, and Professional Learning Communities to support novice and pre-service teachers Serve as the cohort leader for identified teachers who support specialized populations in order to build their programmatic knowledge, implementation best practices, and engage teachers in reflective practice Support the development of novice and pre-service teachers through implementation of coaching cycles aligned to the teacher development framework Engage in a continuous review and application of professional literature/development related to professional learning and development of research based best practices in induction and mentorship Attend state and national workshops/conferences and serve on committees to advance induction and mentorship aligned to the comprehensive professional learning plan and defined retention strategies Collaborate Collaborate with campus administrators and district leaders to oversee the effective implementation of the TAPP teacher mentorship program Collaborate with campus principals to develop and monitor implementation yearlong mentorship and induction cohorts to support novice and pre-service teachers in specialized job roles including elective teachers and those supporting special populations Establish community partnerships and solicit teacher leader engagement to advance mentorship and induction practices Collaborate with various departments within the organization to create, facilitate, and monitor induction experiences and professional learning for novice and pre-service teachers Collaborate to develop and allocate budgetary funds to support mentorship and induction programming Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies Supervisory Responsibilities Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner Provide leadership and direction to campus based professional learning and technology leads to support implementation of campus based professional learning plans and technology integration Monitor the implementation of the comprehensive professional learning plan to ensure alignment to the District’s Mission and Vision

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities, required unless otherwise stated as preferred. Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment required, in SPED or ESL preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience as a classroom teacher Minimum of 2 years of experience in leadership at campus or district level Minimum of 1 year of experience in planning, developing, and presenting professional learning at campus or district level Advanced knowledge and expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Ability to collaborate with various departments within the organization Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize effectively and work independently within guidelines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms.
The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
