In this role, you’ll operate a variety of equipment—such as excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and drills—to assist with transmission, distribution, underground, and civil construction work. If you take pride in high‑quality work, operate equipment with precision and care, and thrive in a fast‑paced outdoor environment, this is a great opportunity to grow your career within the Quanta family.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>What You'll Do</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p>As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you’ll play a key role in supporting utility construction projects by safely and efficiently operating equipment and assisting crews in the field. Your responsibilities will include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Follow all company and job‑site safety regulations and procedures.</li>\n <li>Identify and avoid potential hazards such as utility lines, equipment, workers, and falling objects.</li>\n <li>Operate heavy equipment—including track hoes, backhoes, forklifts, skid steers, and similar machinery—using throttles, switches, levers, and pedals.</li>\n <li>Load, move, and place dirt, rock, materials, and equipment using tractors, shovels, trucks, and related machinery.</li>\n <li>Maneuver equipment to strip topsoil, clear vegetation, remove obstacles, and level or grade terrain.</li>\n <li>Excavate, drill, and prepare holes for foundations, poles, or utility structures.</li>\n <li>Perform right‑of‑way clearing, reclamation, and site preparation.</li>\n <li>Guide, direct, and mentor laborers and ground personnel during work activities.</li>\n <li>Perform basic equipment care, including greasing, oiling, and minor repairs using hand tools.</li>\n <li>Clean and prep construction sites to remove hazards and maintain safe working conditions.</li>\n <li>Read and interpret construction plans, instructions, and specifications.</li>\n <li>Assist with traffic control around work zones when necessary.</li>\n <li>Measure, mark, and record distances and layouts to support construction work.</li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>What You'll Bring</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>One year experience in heavy equipment operation</li>\n <li>Valid Commercial Driver License</li>\n <li>Valid DOT Medical Certification</li>\n <li>Experience digging around existing utilities</li>\n <li>Travel required for continued employment</li>\n <li>Pass pre-employment and other drug screenings</li>\n <li>Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions</li>\n <li>Compliance with OSHA and other Federal, State, and local safety regulations</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Three to five years of experience in heavy equipment operation</li>\n <li>Lo-Drill experience</li>\n <li>Loader and Forklift experience</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Get</h2>\n<p>At Probst Electric Inc., a proud subsidiary of Quanta Services (NYSE: PWR), you’ll join a team that takes pride in delivering high‑voltage transmission construction, design‑build solutions, and maintenance services for public and private utilities.
