    "description": "<p>Carpenter</p>\n<p><span>Full-Time in </span><br><span> San Francisco Bay Area, CA</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Classification:<span> </span></span>Non-Exempt</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Reports to:<span> </span></span>Lead Carpenter, Foreman, or Superintendent</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Date:</span><span> </span>October 17, 2018</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">JOB DESCRIPTION</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Summary/Objective:<span> </span></span>The Carpenter position is responsible for high quality worksmanship of high-end residential construction projects.</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.</li>\n<li>Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.</li>\n<li>Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.</li>\n<li>Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.</li>\n<li>Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.</li>\n<li>Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob, level, lasers or builder's level.</li>\n<li>Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.</li>\n<li>Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.</li>\n<li>Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.</li>\n<li>Protect installed work in progress and finished goods.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Competencies:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weakness</li>\n<li>Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.</li>\n<li>Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.</li>\n<li>Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.<br></li>\n<li>Dependability - Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.</li>\n<li>Initiative - Job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.</li>\n<li>Cooperation - Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.</li>\n<li>Integrity - Job requires being honest and ethical.</li>\n<li>Leadership - Job may require a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tools used in this occupation:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ladders - Extension ladders; The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions. Physically working on the site is essential due to the collaborative and hands-on nature of this position.<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Demands<span> </span></span>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</p>\n<p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.</p>\n<p>The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds. Be able to work on ladders and roofs up to 50 ft off the ground. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, starting time between 7 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., ending time 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., depending on the project needs, 40 hours per week.
