Description
Job Summary/Overview: As a Solar Installer, your primary responsibility will be to install solar panels and related equipment at residential and commercial sites. Achieving successful completion of projects with the highest level of safety, quality, quality, efficiency and conformance to the original plans and specifications. Responsible for installing PV systems from beginning to end. Primary Job Responsibilities: Install solar panels, inverters, racking systems, and other solar equipment on rooftops or ground-mounted systems. Will consist of working on residential rooftops as well as installing ground mounted systems. Assess the job site, identify and resolve any potential hazards. Do all the electrical work needed to connect the solar system to the electric grid. This includes proper grounding systems, controls and all testing necessary. Create or interpret the solar panel installation plans, map out the steps of the installation and where all of the components will be installed. Assembly of mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment Verify structural attachment in the attic. (This includes tight spaces) Work with crew members to complete projects within the company’s policy and procedure. Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues. Test installed systems to ensure functionality and troubleshoot any issues. Layout assembly of Solar array and mounting hardware. Troubleshooting system problems and helping resolve electrical issues Assemble the racking and solar array when assigned Trenching, concrete work, and equipment assembly Project clean up including client site and installation vehicle Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity Perform on-site assessments to determine the optimal location for solar battery installation, considering factors such as sun exposure, space availability, and electrical infrastructure. Install and configure solar battery storage systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. May need to connect batteries to existing solar PV systems and electrical grids, ensuring proper wiring and integration with inverters and other components. Adhere to all OSHA and/or company safety procedures Develop a positive working dynamic within the installation crew and branch co-workers Work with production team members with an intense focus on safety and quality while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal company policies Utilize lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish production goals Supporting an inclusive work environment Be a part of providing a safe, positive, and efficient work environment 100% travel is required plus weekends and OT may be required Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, methodology and safety. Connect solar panels to electrical systems and perform wiring as per specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety protocols always. Provide support to other team members as needed to complete projects efficiently. Perform additional duties as assigned and directed. Requirements Requirements, Education, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience: Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards Learn AHJ/Utility/NEC requirements and guidelines Must be a mechanically minded individual to work in the field of installing residential and light commercial grid-tied photovoltaic systems. Previous experience in solar PV installation, electrical work, or related fields is highly desirable. Familiarity with battery storage systems, including lithium-ion, lead-acid, or flow batteries, and associated components. Knowledge of electrical wiring, circuitry, and safety practices, with the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, including the ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safely Strong communication skills in order to offer exceptional customer service and interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner Must have a clean driver's license and background check Must have a High School diploma or a GED Must be willing to work in unfavorable weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, windy) Solar Installation: 2+years (Required) Lifting heavy objects and no fear of heights Ability to handle tools safely and equipment Roof/Electrical Installation: 2 years (Required) Ensure timely arrival for scheduled shifts Must meet our requirements and be willing to adapt within reasonable limits to adjust job responsibilities Works independently, as a team player, and drives results in a fast-paced, team-based environment Physical Demands and Working Conditions Essential physical requirements included climbing, standing, stooping, bending, squatting, stretching. Physical effort/lifting up to 10 pounds; light - up to 20 pounds; medium - up to 50 pounds; heavy - over 50 pounds. Ability to work in all weather and ProSolar Systemss Ability to work in confined spaces, such as attics Must be able to work with heights; ascends/descends a ladder to rooftops. While working conditions can vary depending on the specific position, this job will require you to be outdoors for extended periods of time. Solar installation and maintenance can only be done when the weather is good, expect long hours during these times in order to get as much work done as possible. Keep in mind that you may be required to work at heights necessary to get the work done and that you can meet the physical demand of working on a rooftop. Additionally, solar technicians will sometimes need to work in attics or crawl into tight spaces as they will need to hook up the solar panels to the electric grid.
