Summary
Join a team at the forefront of surgical innovation! St. Paul’s Hospital is a tertiary-level surgical centre and home to a growing Centre of Excellence in colorectal surgery, kidney transplant, and minimally invasive surgical (MIS) technologies. Our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) features 16 dedicated beds, supporting high-acuity, complex surgical care.
As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
Make referrals to resources as needed.
Support fellow healthcare professionals.
Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values.
Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses' Union (BCNU), and health organizations across British Columbia, mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports safe nursing practice and high-quality patient care. What You Bring
Education:
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Residential Care and Mental Health.
Completion of a post-graduate critical care course, or two years of recent experience in an equivalent setting.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated competence in performing CPR procedures
Experience in teamwork, decision-making and conflict resolution
Demonstrated a teaching aptitude
Proficient in clinical leadership
A strong desire to expand your professional skills and a commitment to lifelong learning in the nursing field

Competitive pay: $41.42 to $55.91 CAD per hour, depending on experience.

Your Day to Day:
Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
