Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support infrastructure design, configuration, and deployment for a new satellite ground system development program supporting NOAA's Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) Mission Operations Services. This position supports all infrastructure activities across the full system lifecycle — from architecture and design through integration, authorization, and operational deployment.
This role requires close collaboration with Cyber, Software Engineering, Networks, Systems Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Quality, and program leadership.
Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and implement IT systems across Linux, Windows, and cloud-based infrastructures
Develop hardware system architectures based on program requirements; conduct comparative analyses of hardware and software options
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define system specifications, requirements, and cloud migration strategies
Identify systems and applications suitable for cloud migration; support transition planning and execution
Create and maintain detailed technical drawings, diagrams, schematics, and design documentation using Visio (AutoCAD a plus)
Monitor and analyze physical and virtualized environments to track and optimize resource allocation
Support integration efforts for hardware and software components into larger system architectures
Support procurement activities for new materials and maintenance renewals; conduct ongoing obsolescence analysis of existing hardware and software
Research, evaluate, and recommend new hardware and software solutions; collaborate with vendors to assess products and services
Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance for mission-critical applications
**This position is contingent on contract award.**
