ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY Schedule/Hours: Full-time BFOQ This position is responsible for: Supervises, plans, schedules, and monitors the planning and delivery of program activities and events. Assists in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the Camp Director. Supervises all programs conducted at the camp through subordinate specialists for various programs such as aquatic/lakefront activities, nature, arts & crafts, horseback riding, bicycling, archery, outdoor skills/camping, challenge course, and audio/visual. Designs and delivers program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper’s age and abilities. Provides faith-based guidance and role modeling to campers. Participates alongside campers during camp worship meetings and times of prayer. Leads devotional activities and faith-based songs with campers and supports the seeker’s ministry. Key Responsibilities: Supervises and monitors the day-to-day operations of the camp, including the various programs conducted at the camp, to include waterfront activities, nature, arts & crafts, horseback riding, bicycling, archery, outdoor skills/camping, challenge course, and audio/visual; ensures that programs run smoothly; and in compliance with established procedures. Performs ministry functions such as presenting approved devotional material to campers, praying with a camper, or leading in Christian songs, etc. Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates camp programs based on the changing needs of campers; develops programs or assists leaders in developing programs to target the enrolled campers. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Some physical requirements of the Camp Program Director position include endurance, including climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required for manipulating activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
