The Grove was the home of visionary horticulturist and educator, Dr. John Kennicott and his son, Robert Kennicott, Illinois&rsquo;s first naturalist. The Grove was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 and offer</span>s educational programs, special events and is open for regular visitation by the general public. Air Station Prairie is a 32-acre tallgrass prairie with a LEED-certified &ldquo;green&rdquo; educational facility.</span></p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\"><strong>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></span></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Recruits volunteers for programs, retail store, animal care, restoration, special events and other areas of operations.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assists staff in developing and coordinating projects for community service groups, scout troops, and business organizations as requested.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assists in the development of and conducts new volunteer orientation, general training, scheduling and evaluations.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assists in designing promotional pieces for volunteer opportunities.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assists in the development and implementation of volunteer recognition and professional development programs.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Develops and initiates regular communication with volunteers through newsletters, meetings and other means.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assist front desk staff with greeting visitors and answering phones as necessary.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Coordinates the collection and processing of volunteer paperwork&nbsp;and maintains volunteer database.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\">Assists in developing and monitoring a budget.</span></li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman',Times,serif\"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br />\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; College degree strongly preferred.
