We are constantly winning new contracts and are looking for new inspectors to staff these projects.&nbsp;</p><p>We have immediate openings in the Hampton Roads Region (Gloucester, Newport News and Virginia Beach)</p><p><strong>Disciplines:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Transportation (Highway, Bridge, and Maintenance)</li><li>Utilities (Water and Wastewater)</li><li>Transit-Rail (Freight, Commuter, Heavy, and Light)</li><li>Building (M/E/P and Structural)&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>We are looking for highly qualified and experienced Construction Inspectors whom have worked on private, federal, state or locally administered construction projects. The Inspector is responsible for managing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various types of projects specific to the applicable discipline.</p><p>Duties and responsibilities may include:&nbsp;</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Construction management</li><li>Performing field inspection of Contractor&#39;s operations to see that they comply with contract documents&nbsp;</li><li>Preparing daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by Contractor&nbsp;</li><li>Performing materials testing and maintaining testing logs&nbsp;</li><li>Reviewing periodic pay estimates for accuracy with Contractor&nbsp;</li><li>Preparing sketches and assembling data for Engineer&#39;s use in making changes to the project&nbsp;</li><li>Keeping diaries and making reports on work accomplished and/or noted deficiencies&nbsp;</li><li>Performing sophisticated, complicated mathematical calculations&nbsp;</li><li>Reviewing Contractor schedules including initial CPM and monthly updates&nbsp;</li><li>Communicating effectively with the Engineer, Owner and Owner&#39;s operational and field staff on a regular basis, keeping them apprised of field conditions and maintaining active communications and excellent rapport with the Owner and the entire project team throughout the construction process</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate required. Bachelor&#39;s Degree or other advanced certificate desirable</li><li>Must have relevant construction experience in the discipline applying in addition to the required certifications and qualifications</li><li>Must be proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance</li><li>Must have a minimum of three (3) years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below</li><li>&nbsp;Applicant must have a valid driver&#39;s license and clean driving record</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>The ability to read/interpret plans and specifications</li><li>Writing and drawing skills are necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation</li><li>Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) are required</li></ul><p><strong>Inspection Skills:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Applicants must have demonstrated inspection and management experience with transportation, utility, transit, and/or building construction projects requiring monitoring a contractor&#39;s work for conformance to the design plans, specifications and general permit requirements&nbsp;</li><li>Must have experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews; experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates and as-built drawings</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):</strong></p><p>This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include:&nbsp;</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces</li><li>Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles</li><li>Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing</li><li>Remaining in a stationary position&mdash;either standing or sitting&mdash;for extended periods of time</li><li>Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers</li><li>Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to100 yards. &nbsp;</li><li>Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 120 miles round trip.</li><li>Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.</li><li>Work from heights exceeding 6 feet</li><li>Must be able to wear a properly fitted safety harness and be knowledgeable of the correct use and of regular inspection of the harness and components</li><li><strong>Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment</strong></li></ul><p>The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements.
