We will train you to join our dedicated team building the most advanced and sophisticated submarines in the world! </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em><strong>All entry-level positions require membership to applicable Metal Trades Council or United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union.</strong></em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em><strong>Our Entry Level Trades opportunities include:</strong></em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Inside Machinists*</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Works with different lathes and CNC equipment and does light programming and assembly to produce needed parts</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Outside Machinists*</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Works on the submarine doing assembly and shipboard mechanical work that takes place in the shipyard</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Pipefitters*</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Installs, assembles, fabricates, maintains, and repairs mechanical piping systems that carry liquids and gases under varying pressures</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Outside Electricians*</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Responsible for the electrical wiring of the machines and related equipment supporting many miles of cable in the submarines </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Carpenters</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Responsible for building staging, platforms, and scaffolding for other trades to be able to work in and around the boat. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Painters*</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Preserves the hull and components by sealing the submarines with chemicals and paints to prevent corrosion and protect against the accumulation of marine life.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Steel Trades (Welding, Shipfitters, Grinders)</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Shipfitter*</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, frames, foundations, etc. Align and tracks weld's structural parts</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Welder*</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Welding structural assemblies using GMAW (Mig welding) and SMAW (Stick welding) during fabrication and installation of submarine construction</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Grinder</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Working with various metals and pipes to be formed within a high degree of precision</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>*Pre-employment training is provided by Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) for these positions</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be a high school senior and graduating by August of 2026</li>\n <li>Must be a US Citizen</li>\n <li>Available to train and work on any shift</li>\n <li>Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and in extreme weather conditions as required</li>\n <li>Possess your own basic hand tools</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Vocational HS</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to work successfully in a production/construction environment</li>\n <li>Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively with supervision and peers</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Qualifications</h2>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting\n<h2>Environmental Attributes</h2>Acids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet",
