    "description_html": "<div class=\"job_description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>Non-benefit &#8211; Non-represented</b></p><p><b>Starting Pay Rate 2026 $22.73/hour to $29.04/hour</b></p><p></p><p><b>POSITION SUMMARY:</b></p><p></p><p>This is a sworn deputy position assigned to the Court Services Unit.&#160;<u>Candidates must currently be certifiable law enforcement officers</u>. Retired law enforcement officers are encouraged to apply.</p><p></p><p>Special Deputies are &#8220;at will&#8221; employees who provide part-time assistance and support to the Sheriff when additional personnel are required. The duties and assignments of a Special Deputy may be similar in nature with those of a full-time Ozaukee County Deputy Sheriff.</p><p></p><p></p><p><b>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><p></p><ul><li>Assists in the screening of all persons and property entering the court level of the Ozaukee County Justice Center and operates equipment necessary to maintain facility security</li><li>Provides security in the courtrooms as required and is responsible for the general good order and security of Justice Center employees and the public</li><li>Monitors interior and exterior of the Justice Center building for potential threats to security</li><li>Assess the general condition and security of the main floor of the Justice Center (court level) and adjacent areas during each shift</li><li>Monitors and ensures compliance with all statutes and ordinances as they apply to the Justice Center, court visitors, and assigned employees</li><li>Serve civil process and other court orders and is responsible for proper maintenance and service of arrest warrants</li><li>Coordinate the movement of inmates between the jail and the courts. Schedule, coordinate and perform prisoner transports</li><li>Handles public relations and interacts with all visitors to the courts as necessary or directed</li><li>Coordinate court bailiff duties in cooperation with the jail staff and the courts when needed</li><li>Perform any other duties and assignments as directed by the Sheriff or a superior officer</li></ul><p><b>JOB REQUIREMENTS:</b></p><ul><li>Minimum of 60 college credits in addition to high school diploma or equivalent</li><li>U.S. Citizen; minimum age &#8211; 21</li><li>Valid driver&#8217;s license with good driving record</li><li>Ability to possess a firearm</li><li>No felony convictions; no domestic abuse convictions</li><li>Clear and concise speech</li><li>Ability to perform essential job functions of the position</li><li><strong>Be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board.&#160;</strong></li></ul><p><b>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</b></p><ul><li>Ability to exercise and demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, integrity, discretion, dependability and enthusiasm</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, other law enforcement officials, and the public</li><li>Demonstrated initiative</li></ul><p><b>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</b>:&#160;</p><p>The work environment is typically indoors within the Ozaukee County Justice Center.&#160; This is a uniformed position.</p><p>Qualified applicants will be required to participate in an oral interview process, background investigation, and physical evaluation with drug screening.</p><p>Ozaukee County offers a generous benefits package including: health, dental, life, &amp; vision insurance; free employee health clinic &amp; Teladoc; paid holidays, vacation, &amp; sick time; state of Wisconsin WRS defined benefit pension program; bonus opportunities; employee fitness room; wellness program &amp; wellness reimbursement; tuition reimbursement &amp; continuing education opportunities; and more!
