    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>The Assistant Superintendent, Electrical Combat is a frontline leadership role responsible for supporting Electrical operations across assigned areas. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), The Assistant Superintendent, Electrical Combat ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of trade work to support ship/unit construction schedules. This role provides technical and resource management for Electrical activities and plays a key role in coaching and mentoring Front Line Supervisors to strengthen trade performance and team effectiveness.</p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.</li>\n <li>Ensure proper PPE use, hazard awareness, and adherence to safe work practices.</li>\n <li>Support safety training and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead execution of electrical construction activities to support ship/unit schedules.</li>\n <li>Monitor quality of work performed; ensure first-time quality through proper oversight and training.</li>\n <li>Provide technical guidance and support to Supervisors and mechanics.</li>\n <li>Support execution of Plan of the Week (POW) and coordinate with area management to align resources with operational needs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Operational Management:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical activities in assigned areas.</li>\n <li>Manage and recommend manpower moves within and between areas to support operational priorities.</li>\n <li>Resolve deck plate issues in coordination with area and trade leadership.</li>\n <li>Share responsibility with area management for performance in cost, schedule, and quality.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Mentoring & Team Development:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Mentor Front Line Supervisors by developing their technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ability to execute daily objectives.</li>\n <li>Coach Supervisors on problem solving, team management, and trade best practices.</li>\n <li>Promote continuous learning and skills development for both Supervisors and mechanics.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce rework.</li>\n <li>Support BOS-aligned improvement activities and structured problem-solving approaches.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with peers and leadership to drive improvements in quality, efficiency, and execution.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<p>• Associates degree in electrical OR equivalent 5 years working in an electrical trade required.• BIW graduate apprentice preferred</p>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<p>• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical processes within a manufacturing/shipbuilding environment required. • Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.• Excellent administrative skills: effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving/decision making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict and multiple priorities.• Experience with Earned Value Management System preferred.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance.  <strong>Y</strong><strong>ou must be a US Citizen for consideration</strong> and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
