Description

Our Internal Data team is on a mission to power decisions and applications across MongoDB, oriented around the business areas of GTM, Product & Technology, Finance and HR. With this role, we are focusing on delivery of scalable, insightful, and impactful data products for our Product and Technology (P&T) teams - the org that builds MongoDB products for our external customers. These products drive smarter decisions, automate workflows, enable AI agents and deliver actionable insights that accelerate growth. As a Senior Data Product Manager on our Data team — which includes Data Pipeline/Platform Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Governance — you will lead efforts to build, enhance, and scale the data products MongoDB employees use every day across a growing, high-impact company. You’ll deliver data products like data pipelines, datasets, reports/dashboards, APIs, ML models, playbooks, and frameworks while enhancing more traditional data management tools/services to power both AI and BI. These data products form the backbone of our internal data ecosystem and are instrumental in empowering teams to achieve their KPIs and innovate faster. In this role you will also have the opportunity to drive the vision and strategy for internal data as a product, with a focus on telemetry and product adoption/engagement/churn signals. By developing tools and systems that provide deep insights into how customers use or don’t use MongoDB’s products, you will empower teams to understand customer behaviors and improve the end-user experience. The goal is to enable data-driven decisions that enhance product design, drive customer value, and fuel innovation across the MongoDB portfolio. This role can be based out of our Palo Alto, San Francisco, or New York City office or remotely in the East Coast region. Responsibilities Lead Product Strategy and Ownership Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for MongoDB’s Data teams and products Evangelize the importance of data-as-a-product by creating repeatable and scalable data solutions tailored to business needs Balance quick wins for immediate needs with longer-term innovation aligned with strategic goals, particularly integrating modern data frameworks such as lakehouses and medallion data architecture (bronze, silver, gold sets) Partner with Product and Technology (P&T) Teams Collaborate deeply with P&T teams to ensure data products address their unique challenges and workflows Work closely with diverse personas — analysts, engineers, P&T teams, and senior leadership — to capture detailed business processes, user stories, and pain points Serve as a trusted partner and advocate for P&T stakeholders by prioritizing solutions that have direct, measurable business impact, as well as driving the “art of the possible” Performance and Market Analysis Define metrics and KPIs to measure success and iterate on continuous improvement Track innovation and emerging trends in modern data platforms, scalable data engineering, and advanced analytics tooling, integrating these insights into the roadmap to maintain cutting-edge capabilities Stakeholder Enablement Build user-friendly documentation, guides, and onboarding materials for data products to drive adoption and ensure ongoing literacy in using product features effectively Partner with training teams and change management functions to ensure teams successfully integrate new data tools and features into their workflows Adoption and Evangelization Announce new product features, datasets, and tools with tailored product marketing strategies to maximize awareness and adoption across MongoDB teams Champion the value of data products in solving business questions; lead re-launch efforts as necessary to reinvigorate flagging adoption and spotlight transformative benefits Agile Product Management Own and drive agile processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery Balance innovation with tackling tech debt while delivering new features, particularly focusing on datasets, pipelines, frameworks, and tools for user enablement Requirements Proven Data Product Manager & Domain Expertise 5+ years of hands-on product management experience, with at least two years focused on data products or platforms at a modern, fast-paced, high-growth company Experience with stakeholders in advanced engineering organizations is critical; strong understanding of software development lifecycle processes Technical Strength & Understanding of Modern Data Architecture Strong technical foundation in data engineering, analytics, and data products Deep familiarity with modern data platforms, scalable architecture (e.g., lakehouses, medallion data), and tools that operationalize insights at enterprise scale.
