Performs all patient safety and procedures required of an Expanded Function Dental Assistant including but not limited to the Essential Functions.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sterilizes dental instruments and equipment by providing back up coverage for sterilization tech as needed. Oils and cleans equipment; cleans dental office and operatory.</li>\n<li>Maintains proper infection control procedures; wears required PPE per OSHA standards.</li>\n<li>Prepares patients for treatment by seating, taking blood pressure, and reviewing medical history; presents and witnesses signatures on all appropriate consent forms.</li>\n<li>Reviews patient chart and ensures all paperwork, x-rays and treatment are current.</li>\n<li>Accurately inputs patient information into patient chart and adheres to established safety protocols for all procedures.</li>\n<li>Performs routine laboratory work such as pouring and trimming working models; packages and ships models to appropriate lab; receives and organizes lab cases/slips upon delivery.</li>\n<li>Keeps current with software specific for electronic dental records, accurately charts each patient’s oral health, treatment plan, and chart notes; ensures consent forms are signed by all persons required, reports missing information in chart to appropriate staff member.</li>\n<li>Prepares operatories for dental procedure and assists chairside by handing various instruments and supplies to dentist.</li>\n<li>Prepares operatories for hygiene procedures and assists chairside by handing various instruments and supplies to the hygienist, along with assisting with perio charting.</li>\n<li>Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.</li>\n<li>Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving skills using sound judgement. Assumes additional responsibilities as needed, with little or no direction, shows initiative in assisting others within the department.</li>\n<li>Attends in-service and other required meetings.</li>\n<li>Follows all Aviva Health policies and procedures; strictly adheres to HIPAA.</li>\n<li>May be instructed to assist with PSR Duties: Answer telephone, schedule patient visits; register new patients and screen for eligibility, collect financial, insurance or third-party payer information, collect demographic information, and prepare chart; enter patient packet data, verify accuracy of and scan documents; calculate individual patient charges for services, collect payment and explain payment process, record receipts of fees in practice management system; explain treatment plans. Assist all providers and hygiene team with pre-authorizations, referrals, and prescription requests.</li>\n<li>Scrub patient charts and work on Gap List.</li>\n<li>Traveling using a company or personal vehicle to assist at other clinics.</li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Begins each shift at the designated location at the scheduled time, meets attendance standards and works the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the jobs.</li>\n<li>Strictly adheres to the ethics and Code of Conduct as established by the ADA, Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners, and Aviva Health.</li>\n<li>Conforms to safety work ethics, is flexible and shows dedication to position and community.</li>\n<li>Displays initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments efficiently and timely. Works with minimal supervision and exercises sound judgment and attention to detail.</li>\n<li>Promotes positive customer relations and service to both internal and external customers in a non-discriminatory, confidential, professional, and friendly manner that builds dignity for each individual person.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li>\n<li>Radiology and EFDA certification required.</li>\n<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to be certified and maintain certification upon hire.</li>\n<li>Dental or EFDA experience preferred.</li>\n<li>Experience with electronic dental records preferred.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of dental procedures and procedure codes preferred.</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, staff, and external partners, both verbally and in writing.</li>\n<li>Ability to accurately maintain and interpret records related to patient care and dental services.</li>\n<li>Ability to be cross-trained as a Dental Patient Services Representative.</li>\n<li>Must have valid Oregon Drivers license and clean driving record.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">WORKING CONDITIONS:</span></p>\n<p>Must be able to perform the following physical requirements:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-person work during normal clinic hours; will require traveling to assist in other clinics.</li>\n<li>Use of company or personal vehicle for traveling to float at other clinics.</li>\n<li>Remain in stationary position frequently throughout the day while performing clinical/administrative duties.</li>\n<li>Move or traverse frequently throughout the day in the clinic to perform clinical/administrative duties.</li>\n<li>Operate equipment frequently throughout the day using a computer, clinical, and lab equipment.</li>\n<li>Communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately so others will understand; interact with patients and staff clearly.</li>\n<li>Able to move or transport up to 25 pounds while using equipment and providing patient care.</li>\n<li>Typically work indoors in heat-controlled environment.</li>\n<li>OSHA Exposure Category – Category #1: Possible job-related exposure to blood and/or body fluids.
