We are seeking a Director of Water Resources to join the Water Resources Division and be a part of our growing team located in Vernon Hills, IL. This is an exempt position. The Water Resources Director will report to the President/COO. This position requires independent work skills in the day-to-day operations and the ability to communicate and collaborate with GHA staff, clients, and outside agencies to implement corporate and division objectives, goals, and strategic initiatives. This position requires field and office work. As Water Resources Division Director, you will utilize the company values in all phases of your work. You shall monitor all projects and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out assignments with limited oversight and the ability to guide other team members in all projects varying in size and complexity while meeting schedules and budgets in a timely manner. You shall develop annual goals and meet regularly with the President to review established goals and initiatives of the division. You will also work with the other directors to strategize ways to improve GHA’s competitive advantages. In addition, you shall show competency in the following areas: How you will make an impact: Perform and oversee drainage investigation, floodplain and floodway analyses, design of stormwater management systems, municipal drainage systems, hydraulic studies, pumping stations, and green infrastructures. Prepare and lead drainage reports, watershed studies, and stormwater master plan reports. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in water resources engineering, and incorporate them into project designs and strategies. Obtain regulatory permits related to stormwater management. Interface with the Board of Directors; implement corporate goals for the division, in addition to developing specific division goals. Develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives for the division. Engage with project teams, clients, consultants, and permitting agencies. Build and market new client relationships. Participate in marketing initiatives, including conferences and community events. Oversee the division’s RFQ and RFP process. Prepare and monitor division budgets and financial goals. Manage billing, collections, productivity, and project forecasts. Foster a positive work culture and develop staff capabilities. Implement team-building efforts and create a cohesive team. Oversee hiring, training, and professional development within the division. Conduct performance reviews and resolve internal issues. Develop and monitor Quality Management Plans (QA/QC). Enhance work quality, efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction. Review cost estimates for large projects. Collaborate with other division directors on various needs. Lead and empower the team with clear direction and values. Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development. Understand client needs and develop tailored solutions. Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the team. What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc Qualifications: B.S degree in Civil Engineering or related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design/management of stormwater projects A Professional Engineer License (PE) in the State of Illinois, additional certifications such as Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation preferred. Proven track record of successfully leading multi-disciplinary project teams and delivering projects on time and within budget. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members at all levels. Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. Client contacts and relationships with local municipalities, area counties, water management authorities and local, regional, state agencies Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed. Must have valid Illinois Driver’s License. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: AutoCAD, GIS, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater planning, storm drain and BMP design software. Must be able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be a team builder and display a positive attitude. Encourages work/life blend. Excellent presentation skills.
