Videography Assistant Location: 11738 Kingsway Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta Closing Date: Until Suitable Candidate is Found Position Status: One (1) Full-time (40 hours/week), Temporary (May-December) The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is looking for one Videography Assistant to support the Communications department. Reporting to the Visual Media Supervisor, the Videography Assistant will be responsible for a range of duties involving both creativity and technical expertise. This position will require collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to produce high-quality deliverables suitable for use in marketing materials, on the web, or for other purposes. The Videography Assistant will be responsible for filming and editing video footage, designing visual elements for video projects, and supporting the overall objectives of the Communication department. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high demand environment, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities at once. Key Responsibilities Create compelling video and motion graphic materials that inspire, inform, and engage the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s audience. Pack, transport, and organize equipment for shoots. Assist with the set-up and take down of equipment for shoots including cameras, lighting, microphones, and props. Provide support for shoots by adjusting lighting and audio, managing cables, and assisting production during shoots. Capture video footage for staged shoots and events and work effectively with video participants. Edit footage by performing sound enhancements, video editing, and assisting with other postproduction tasks. Perform administrative tasks such as document handling, sending emails, and tracking data as needed. Assist in the development of creative concepts and solutions for video products. Design and source required visual elements for video projects. Ensure proper maintenance and care of videography equipment. Discover and implement new shoot technologies and industry best practices. Present a positive and professional image of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government with interacting with clients, visitors, or other external stakeholders. Develop and foster relationships with departments and stakeholders to provide the best possible videography services. Maintain a high level of political awareness, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in interactions with internal and external stakeholders. Other duties as required or assigned. Skills & Competencies Technical expertise, creativity, and composition skills. Strong understanding of videography principles. Familiarity with Adobe software including Premiere Pro and After Effects. Ability to conceptualize and produce unique and culturally appropriate videos. Ability to stay up to date on industry trends, methods, and equipment, as well as learn and develop new, relevant technology skills when required. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships and deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times. Culturally responsive, compassionate, and respectful approach when working with internal and external clients. Strong planning, brainstorming, and collaboration abilities. Political and cultural sensitivity. Ability to assess opinions and implications, engage with different perspectives, and create strategic solutions for challenges. Strong communication skills with excellent verbal, written, and listening abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suire (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to effectively manage and prioritize requests, multitask, and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a diverse and fast paced environment. Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture is an asset. Qualifications Post Secondary degree or diploma in videography or related field. Equivalent training or experience will be considered. A minimum of two to three (2-3) years of professional videography experience is preferred. Experience with videography equipment. Knowledge of Sony cameras, DSLR, and video cameras is an asset. Other Requirements Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required. Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a flexible schedule of days, evenings, and weekends as required. Ability to travel throughout Alberta, with notice. Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license. Submission of a Police Information Check.
