Strong Driveline skills and experience are required to be successful in this role, as well as manufacturing experience in the Driveline commodity. This key role within the Ford Driveline Engineering Department requires a dynamic and flexible individual that can handle multiple projects in different phases, but with many common parts. These programs will be built out of a singular manufacturing site, so on-site presence in Sterling, MI with the manufacturing team is also a key enabler to success. Responsibilities Manage team of 7-10 engineers, delivering all in-house engineered axle systems. These range from light-duty independent axles, to heavy-duty beam axles. Key technical hardware oversight of the Axle system, including close interface with the calibration, Transmission, NVH, and chassis organizations. Close interface with our component engineering teams on key program deliverables Responsible for program delivery of Quality, Cost, Weight, Function and Timing (QCWFT) for the axle commodity. From Underbody Virtual series through OKTB. Lead new axle development in the form of “unit” programs, in which you will have separate engineering gateways up-front that support forward model vehicle programs. Support prototype builds for axle systems and vehicle prototypes You will interact directly with our in-house Axle manufacturing teams, which will include close interface with new design developments, ongoing production concerns, and in-field quality metrics. Qualifications Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 4+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge. Other Underbody commodity experience will be considered. 4+ years of experience with plant, manufacturing, launch experience, tooling knowledge, experience in all phases of product development Desired Characteristics Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 6+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge Experience with GPDS and other Ford engineering tools (TeamCenter, WERS, FEDE, etc.) Experience in a leadership capacity leading and guiding others One Ford Behavior, ability to work cross-functionally, build team consensus Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply! As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including: • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases • Tuition assistance • Established and active employee resource groups • Paid time off for individual and team community service • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time. This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
