Coaches will promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character, while ensuring the safety and supervision of student-athletes.</span></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Head Coaches lead and manage all levels of the program (varsity, junior varsity, and freshman).</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Assistant Coaches support the head coach with instruction, supervision, and program operations.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"color: black;\">Candidates must meet one of the following:</span></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Certified teachers or professional educators employed by a local Board of Education; OR</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Individuals certified by MSDE under COMAR 13A.12.01; OR</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Credentialed coaches who:</span><ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\"><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Are eligible for a Maryland certificate under COMAR 13A.12.01</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Hold MPSSAA/MSDE Coaching Certification</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Have two years of successful emergency coaching experience</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Have one year of successful emergency coaching experience at the hiring school in the position applied for</span></li></ul></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Head Coach</strong></span></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Submit all required coaching certifications to the athletic director.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Complete CCPS/MPSSAA forms (eligibility rosters, reports, etc.).</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Ensure only cleared athletes participate in tryouts and receive equipment.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Conduct mandatory pre-season meetings for athletes and families.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Manage the entire program: varsity, JV, and freshman.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Supervise, assign, and evaluate assistant and sub-varsity coaches.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Review Superintendent Rule 1111 with coaching staff.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Oversee equipment issuance, inventory, repairs, and collection of lost-item fees.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Maintain lists of athletic awards, honors, and team records.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Submit equipment needs and annual budget requests.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Attend required clinics, meetings, and training.</span></li></ul><p><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Assistant Coach</strong></span></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Support and report directly to the head coach.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Serve as a positive role model promoting sportsmanship and character.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Assist with pre-season meetings and program communication.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Arrive early for practices; secure facilities before and after activities.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Teach fundamentals and supervise athletes at all times.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Assist with scouting and attending varsity contests as required.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Help manage equipment distribution, collection, and inventory.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Assist with award lists, recognition, and annual budget preparation.</span></li><li><span style=\"color: black;\">Maintain cleanliness of coaching and team spaces.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Environmental Factors &amp; Physical Requirements</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"color: black;\">The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm,&nbsp;hand&nbsp;and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
