Its mission is to enable Africa's brightest students to flourish as independent thinkers, problem solvers and innovators capable of propelling Africa's future scientific, educational and economic self-sufficiency. The first AIMS centre opened in Cape Town, South Africa in 2003; since 2011, AIMS has opened additional centres in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon and 2 Centres in Rwanda. </span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Each AIMS Centre provides expertly tailored academic and non-academic programs, training around 50 African students each year and preparing them for leadership in the domains of academia, government and industry.  The AIMS academic program relies on top international lecturers who teach in a 24-hour learning environment.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>If you bring a collaborative spirit with a passion to effect change, consider this opportunity as the…</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) Scientist, AIMS Centres [Rwanda, Senegal, Ghana &amp; Cameroon]!</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;\">As a Knowledge and Technology Transfer Scientist, your job area will involve entrepreneurship education, liaising with </span><span>industry</span><span style=\"color: #212529;\">, bridging the gap between research and practice, innovation, commercialization of research, and work-integrated learning.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;\">Reporting to the Centre President, you will assist in analyzing, developing, and implementing professional structures and services that translate theoretical research into practical outcomes. You will also support the </span><span>commercialization</span><span style=\"color: #212529;\"> of AIMS innovation and intellectual property through activities such as patenting, licensing, and establishing spin-off companies, all for the benefit of society. The Scientist will facilitate the transition of AIMS graduates into employment and entrepreneurship by establishing partnerships with industries to secure internships, research opportunities, and jobs. You will also contribute to delivering entrepreneurship development programs at the Centre and provide AIMS students with training in entrepreneurship and other mathematical sciences courses based on their expertise. </span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;\">As the ideal candidate, you will build and maintain relationships with stakeholders within the KTT ecosystem in the </span><span>country</span><span style=\"color: #212529;\"> and beyond; coordinate with legal experts to manage intellectual property rights and protect research outcomes through patents and copyrights; manage industry partnerships, including follow-ups with industrial contacts and establishing strategic alliances for KTT; support AIMS graduates transition to employment through professional skills development and liaison with industry for internships, research, and job opportunities for AIMS students and graduates and deliver courses in entrepreneurship, innovation and mathematical sciences to AIMS students. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;\"> </span></p>\n<p><span>This is a 3-year, full-time contract opportunity based in Kigali, Rwanda, Mbour, Senegal, Accra, Ghana, and Limbe, Cameroon, respectively. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Do you have what we need?</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span> </span><span>A PhD degree or equivalent in mathematics, computer science, or other quantitative disciplines.</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>A scientific background in one or more fields: Mathematical Modeling, Data Science, Quantum Science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Ability to understand and communicate (written and oral) complex science and technology concepts to a range of audiences. </span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Business and entrepreneurship development experience is an added advantage.</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Experience in a knowledge and technology transfer or related role in academia, research, or industry is an added advantage.</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Knowledge of KTT processes and tools, including Intellectual Property management, is an added advantage.</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Interest in building capacity of young African scientists.</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Personal drive and effectiveness</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Analytical and adaptability skills</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Collaboration and negotiation</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Excellent communication skills</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Influencing and negotiation skills </span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Innovation management</span></li>\n<li><span> </span><span>Problem solving skills.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Are you ready to be a part of the transformation?</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2024. </span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>If you do not receive feedback from AIMS within four (4) weeks of the deadline, please accept that your application will not be further pursued.
