Responsibilities Essential Functions Ensures the appropriate exam is performed based on physician's orders and patient history. Verifies and enters/selects patient demographics. Provides accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam. Performs ultrasound examinations, tailoring exams based upon findings and most likely diagnosis. Updates patient logs and submit billing. Ensures operation of equipment and coordinates necessary maintenance. Assists with training of student sonographers, residents, and fellows. Assists physicians with invasive procedures. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. Ability to provide care to the population served. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures. Demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills. Qualifications Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. One of the following Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an Abdomen specialty (RDMS-AB) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an OB/GYN specialty (OB/GYN) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Current ARRT Registration for Sonography (S). * Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) Preferred ARRT registration as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.). Working Conditions and Physical Demands Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care.
