Description
Model Home Interiors (MHI), now part of Empire Office, is a leading design and installation firm creating fully furnished environments for lifestyle real estate, including multifamily housing, student residences, senior living communities, and model homes. Together, we are the nation’s trusted one-stop partner for residential and lifestyle real estate FF&E. We help builders and developers stand out by ensuring no two communities ever feel the same, whether aligning with existing design schemes or co-creating custom, differentiated looks. Backed by Empire’s 79+ years of expertise across commercial, residential, and hospitality projects, MHI delivers distinctive spaces that inspire buyers, attract residents, and accelerate sales. Joining MHI means being part of a collaborative team within Empire, where creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving make a real impact on how people live.
We are seeking a remote Project Manager to support residential projects across the region. This role is an execution-focused project leader responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of Empire’s residential projects—from design coordination and budgeting to scheduling, quality control, installation, and closeout. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-driven, and skilled at anticipating issues before they become blockers, ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to Empire’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Schedule Management
Own the day-to-day execution of all assigned residential projects. Build and manage project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met. Proactively identify risks, gaps, or bottlenecks and implement solutions to keep projects on track. Facilitate cross-functional coordination between design, procurement, warehouse, and installation teams. Budget Management
Create, manage, and maintain accurate project budgets. Track expenditures throughout the project lifecycle and report variances or cost risks. Ensure all decisions align with the approved budget and financial objectives. Design Management
Coordinate with designers to ensure design packages meet client requirements, budget parameters, and internal standards. Ensure timely delivery of all design outputs. Translate client direction (via the Marketing Rep) into clear, actionable guidance for the design team. Client Liaison (Execution-Level)
Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for project execution-specific communication. Ensure client feedback is accurately captured and communicated internally. Support the Marketing Rep, who maintains overall client relationship ownership, by providing timely project updates and addressing execution-related questions. Procurement & Order Management
Confirm that all product orders align with approved designs and budgets. Monitor order timelines, shipping updates, and product availability to prevent project delays. Collaborate closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy and readiness. Installation Coordination
Ensure installation teams receive complete, accurate information and are prepared for on-site execution. Provide real-time problem-solving during install and ensure projects are delivered according to plan. Quality Control & Project Closeout
Implement rigorous quality control checkpoints across design, procurement, and installation phases. Conduct post-install virtual walkthroughs (with stylist or install team as needed) to ensure final product meets Empire and client standards. Oversee project closeout, ensuring punch lists, documentation, and reporting are completed accurately and promptly. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, reduce delays, and elevate project quality. Provide structured feedback to internal teams to support ongoing operational and design improvements.
Proven experience in project management, preferably within the residential construction, design, or real estate industry. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional communication and client management skills with a customer-first mentality. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, including designers and procurement agents. Strategic problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for process improvement.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000, Bonus Comprehensive benefits package including: 401(k) with company match Health, dental, vision, and life insurance Disability coverage FSAs/HSAs Paid time off and holidays EEO/AAP Employer
Committed to equal employment opportunity for all individuals regardless of gender, race, veteran status, disability, or sexual orientation.
