How You’ll Make an Impact
Enjoy working in the outdoors? Interested in learning more about California native and non-native plants? Be a part of our ongoing growth and success and join the Habitat Restoration Sciences team! This position is responsible for working as a team member under direct supervision of a Crew Leader or Foreman. The work varies each day, but can include: vegetation management, weed removal, installing and maintaining plants, and installing and repairing irrigation systems. This position is a temporary position with variable hours. Temporary employees are those employed for short-term assignments. Schedules will vary from week to week based on project requirements. Position is not eligible for company benefits except as required by applicable law.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with supervisor in installation of construction and landscape construction projects
Operate a variety of hand and power tools
Maintain and care for company equipment, tools and vehicles
Perform highly physical installation work on a consistent basis
Maintain a clean and safe job site
Work as part of a team and take direction
Follow all safety procedures on project site
Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity
Keep accurate timesheet records, submitted for review and signoff by the required deadlines
Complete project daily reports if needed
Perform other tasks or projects as assigned/instructed by supervisor
List the main responsibilities of this role
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
1 to 3 years’ experience in landscape industry
Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record
Ability to travel out of town/overnight
Highly motivated, self-driven, detail oriented
Great time management skills; available for seasonal long hours and weekends
Punctual and dependable
Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge and skill levels
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Direct experience in habitat restoration, including planting, invasive species removal, and ecosystem management
Experience in the safe handling and application of pesticides, including compliance with local and federal regulations
Comfort working in outdoor, variable conditions and performing physically demanding tasks
Proven ability to work effectively in field teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholder
Compensation: $20-23 hourly*
*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.
Working Conditions Environment
This job operates in an outdoor or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
This job requires project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires the following:
Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
Employees must be capable of bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted; 50lbs in a team lift (two or more employees).
Attending meetings, both in person and virtually, and speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc.
