          "text": "<p><strong>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><p>This role is responsible for auditing civil construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and approved project requirements.</p><p>The successful candidate will perform site inspections, verify workmanship and materials, enforce safe work practices, and maintain accurate daily reports, including progress tracking, inspections, and documentation.</p><p>This position requires hands-on field experience in civil inspection, strong knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR), internal procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., MTO Book 7, MCR), along with the ability to independently assess and enforce compliance on active construction sites.</p><ul><li>Review issued civil construction drawings and project documentation prior to construction start to understand scope, risks, and key requirements</li><li>Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings</li><li>Conduct site visits and perform regular inspections to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable regulations</li><li>Assess site conditions, identify hazards, and confirm that contractors are following approved safety procedures and regulatory requirements</li><li>Audit contractor practices to ensure alignment with safety standards, utility requirements, and applicable legislation</li><li>Maintain detailed daily inspection records, including site activities, measurements, marked-up drawings, and photographic evidence</li><li>Maintain project information and execution reports, drawings, and ensure that project documents are current and valid.</li><li>Track construction progress and document any deviations from design due to field conditions, scope changes, or unforeseen issues</li><li>Verify installation quality and confirm materials comply with approved bill of materials and project standards</li><li>Review and validate contractor submissions, including progress quantities, monthly billing, and change orders</li><li>Identify, document, and report safety and quality non-compliance issues (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions</li><li>Support incident reporting and participate in investigations when required</li><li>Provide timely project status updates to internal teams and clients</li><li>Perform final inspections and walkdowns, prepare deficiency lists, and confirm readiness for service</li><li>Review and validate As-Built drawings and project documentation in accordance with applicable standards and requirements</li><li>Support project close-out activities, including final reporting, documentation review, and lessons learned</li><li>Participate in post-construction and share lessons learned</li></ul><p><strong>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Willingness to work in outdoor construction environments</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accountability</li><li>Commitment to safety and quality standards</li><li>Ability to manage time effectively and meet reporting deadlines</li><li>Professional attitude with client-facing experience</li><li>Follow SGS internal procedures</li><li>Follow client inspection procedures, where applicable</li><li>Ensure client preapproved procedures are applied</li><li>Accountable for the Health, Safety and Environment of personnel and the enforcement of all regulations as per the SGS Health and Safety Manual, and the immediate reporting of any health, safety or environmental incidents, accidents or concerns to the Manager / Supervisor and H&amp;S department for action.</li><li>Demonstrates good and safe work habits and enforces a clean working environment</li></ul><p>&#xa0;</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>&#xa0;</p>",

          "text": "<p><strong>EDUCATION</strong><strong>:</strong></p><ul><li>Holds a valid Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or Degree in Civil Engineering; registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the applicable province or jurisdiction is considered an asset.</li></ul><p><strong>EXPERIENCE: </strong></p><ul><li>Over 3 years of relevant experience</li></ul><p><strong>REQUIRED SKILLS</strong></p><ul><li>Civil Technician, or Civil Engineering designation.</li><li>Utility and infrastructure experience.</li><li>Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices.</li><li>Knowledge of Toronto Hydro Rule Book, THESL Distribution Standards would be an asset.</li><li>Familiar working knowledge with occupational health &amp; safety act (OHSA), construction standards and specifications in Ontario and City of Toronto (OPS, MCR)</li><li>Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites daily</li><li>Must be able to work outside in extreme weather and flexible hours of work.</li><li>Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.</li></ul><p>The following skills are considered as important assets:</p><ul><li>Strong time management skills</li><li>Ability to write detailed and comprehensive technical reports in Word and/or Excel format.</li><li>Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel.
