You’ll provide medical and surgical services to patients for gender-affirming surgery and urology, forging relationships with staff and delivering expert care to patients. Every aspect of your work will reflect the Legacy mission of making life better for others.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Inpatient Care</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides medical services under the direction of a physician to patients presenting specialty conditions or disease, consistent with the PA’s current Practice Description approved by the State of Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.</li>\n <li>Rounds on service patients: assesses patients, performs physical exams, writes orders, documents daily notes.</li>\n <li>Orders and interprets laboratory tests and radiological examinations. Reports clinical data at rounds or when appropriate.  </li>\n <li>Recognizes and evaluates patients who require the immediate medical or surgical attention and, when necessary, initiates, without supervision, emergency medical treatments. </li>\n <li>Assists in surgical procedures in emergency, clinic and the operating room.</li>\n <li>Performs minor surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, administers treatments and medications consistent with the PA’s current Practice Description approved by the State of Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.  </li>\n <li>Maintains and signs medical records pertaining to treatments and examinations administered. </li>\n <li>Participates in local, regional, & national continuing medical education programs and clinical meetings to maintain medical knowledge as well as a professional network.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Outpatient Care</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li> Participates in Medical Specialty Outpatient Clinic.</li>\n <li>Co-ordinates discharge planning and follow-up.</li>\n <li>Arranges sub-specialty follow-up.</li>\n <li>Communicates with PCPs.</li>\n <li>Performs dictation of history/physical, clinical notes, imaging studies and discharge summary.</li>\n <li>Oversees medications for outpatient care.</li>\n <li>Arranges appropriate outpatient therapy, referral system within Legacy to be maximally utilized.</li>\n <li>Manages outpatient phone contacts.</li>\n <li>Medication requests.</li>\n <li>Disability and work release.</li>\n <li>Consultant evaluations.</li>\n <li>Evaluates patients in the specialty outpatient clinic.</li>\n <li>Assures essential studies are performed prior to clinic visit.</li>\n <li>Examines and interviews patient and family.</li>\n <li>Presents case with recommendations to supervising physicians, as necessary.</li>\n <li>Educates patients about their upcoming procedures and ensure they are appropriately prepared for surgery and recovery.</li>\n <li>Provides appropriate post-operative care for patients.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong>  </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Requires Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a PA program accredited by any of the following accrediting bodies:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Committee on Allied Health, Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA);</li>\n   <li>Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP);</li>\n   <li>Accreditation Review Commission on the Education of the PA (ARC-PA).</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:  </strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Requires experience in direct patient management, in the surgical or medical subspecialty of the department one is hired into.  </li>\n <li>Surgical assisting experience required if working with a surgical specialty.  </li>\n <li>Knowledge of acute and chronic disease states, administration and prescription of medications, and delivering physical care following treatment plan.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Licensure</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Current applicable state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant or ability to obtain licensure upon date of hire. </li>\n <li>Current BLS for Providers from the American Heart Association. </li>\n <li>Current PALS from the American Heart Association. </li>\n <li>Must submit information necessary to complete a National Practitioner Data Base search and meet Legacy’s standards for results.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Our Commitment to Health and Equal Opportunity</h2>\n<p>Our Legacy is good for health for Our People, Our Patients, Our Communities, Our World.
