differential</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p>\n<p>The Respiratory Therapist participates in planning, delivering, controlling and evaluating safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory therapy services.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<p>Performed majority of the time:</p>\n<p>·         Independently performs respiratory diagnostic testing, including stress treadmill testing and EKG’s.</p>\n<p>·         Performs respiratory treatments as listed on the orientation checklist according to departmental procedures. </p>\n<p>·         Administers respiratory medication safely following hospital and departmental policies.</p>\n<p>·         Documents assessments, treatments and medications accurately utilizing hospital and departmental formats.</p>\n<p>·         As a member of the Code Blue team, provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation.</p>\n<p>·         Maintains emergency resuscitation equipment and other equipment, in proper working condition.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in establishing a system to maintain a clean, well-organized, safe environment; reports potential safety hazards.</p>\n<p>·         Assists in maintaining adequate respiratory therapy supplies in the department and in-patient care areas.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in evaluation of new procedures and equipment.</p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information</p>\n<p>·         Participates with physicians, therapists and other members of the health team in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of care plans for respiratory patients.</p>\n<p>·         Organizes, delivers, and evaluates respiratory care based on physician’s orders and individual needs of the patient.</p>\n<p>·         Instructs patients and caregivers about respiratory treatments and issues.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in a comprehensive inter-shift report of all patients receiving respiratory services and other reportable information.</p>\n<p>·         Executes round to cardiopulmonary patients and assesses status.</p>\n<p>·         Reports discrepancies in care through proper mechanism.</p>\n<p>·         Assists in maintaining quality assurance monitors as communicated with Department Manager.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in retrospective analysis of all aspects of respiratory care in accordance with JCAHO standards.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in all required meetings.</p>\n<p>·         Reports unexpected changes in patient condition.</p>\n<p>Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:</p>\n<p>·         Participates in ongoing education and staff development programs.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in all required meetings.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in evaluation of new equipment.</p>\n<p>·         Assists with EEGs as needed.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in ongoing education </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>JOB SPECIFICATIONS</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Education:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         A copy of your highest science-related academic diploma or transcript required upon hire. </p>\n<p>Preferred</p>\n<p>·         Associate Degree in Respiratory Care from and accredited program. </p>\n<p><strong><u>Experience:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         N/A</p>\n<p>Preferred </p>\n<p>·         Minimum of six (6) months experience in critical respiratory care.</p>\n<p><strong><u>Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         Licensed Respiratory Therapist in accordance with the State of Oregon.</p>\n<p>·         Registered with The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).</p>\n<p>·         American Heart Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90-days of hire.</p>\n<p>·         ACLS or required within six (6) months of hire.</p>\n<p>·         PALS or required within six (6) months of hire.  </p>\n<p>·         Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or required within six (6) months of hire.</p>\n<p>Preferred </p>\n<p>·         Current Registered Respiratory Therapist in state of practice. </p>\n<p><strong><u>Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and communication skills.</p>\n<p>·         Ability to effectively document in electronic medical record.</p>\n<p>·         Excellent customer service skills.</p>\n<p>·         Must be able to write legibly.</p>\n<p>·         Professional appearance makes a good first impression.</p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates effective skills in working as part of a team.</p>\n<p>·         Willing to be on standby rotation on occasion. </p>\n<p>·         Uses equipment properly according to departmental procedures and/or manufacturer’s guidelines.</p>\n<p>·         Follows policies for disposal of hazardous waste and sharps.</p>\n<p>·         Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages. </p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates appropriate technique in handling blood and body fluid as outlined in hospital policy, including proper use of PPE.</p>\n<p>·         Provides care appropriate to the neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients served based on principles of growth and development and life stages.</p>\n<p>·         Functions efficiently in emergency situations, following policies.</p>\n<p>·         Prioritizes tasks effectively in critical situations.</p>\n<p>Preferred</p>\n<p>·
