    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><link href=\"https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/css/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\">At the Student Achievement &amp; Resources Center (SARC), the Academic Coach: Life Science/Biology professional tutor will conduct tutoring sessions one-on-one as well as in group in person or online sessions with students taking Biology, Microbiology and Anatomy classes through traditional face-to-face courses on campus, and on-line classes. Professional tutors will have the ability to work with a wide range of student learning styles, needs and skill levels, as well as diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the Academic Coach- Biology/Microbiology professional tutor will work directly with the Director of SARC to provide training to peer tutors that leads to student success in Biology/Microbiology/Anatomy courses.<br><br><p><em>Dodge City Community College is committed to a policy of non-discrimination in hiring and employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, military status, ancestry or national origin.</em></p><strong><u>Essential Functions and Responsibilities</u></strong><ul><li>To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.</li><li>Assist the SARC Director in carrying out activities that support the mission of the SARC and the college.</li><li>Provide individual and/or small group tutoring to students in Biology and Life Science courses according to a posted schedule and in approved subjects.</li><li>Build a rapport with students.</li><li>Collaborate with instructors, other Academic Coaches and Director of SARC to determine the learning needs of students and the tutoring approach preferred by the course instructor.</li><li>Facilitate learning in order to assist students in improving academic achievement by identifying learning problems and developing strategies to address those challenges.</li><li>Cooperate with SARC Director on the development, piloting, and implementation of training programs designed to assist peer tutors in understanding principles of delivering effective tutor sessions in Biology and Life Science.</li><li>&nbsp;Collaborate with SARC Director and staff to design, develop and deliver student success workshops and other support courses as needed.</li><li>Maintain appropriate records of tutoring sessions and scheduling appointments in electronic database according to SARC practices.</li><li>&nbsp;Use instructional technologies appropriately and effectively, including Vital Source, TracCloud and learning management systems such as Canvas and MyDC3.</li><li>Update and consult the SARC Director with student&rsquo;s progress and making other academic referrals for students to other appropriate college resources (e.g., counselors, Academic Coach: Learning Specialist).</li><li>Participate in professional development offerings at DC3.</li><li>Act as a representative for the SARC within the college community.</li><li>Evening hours and one Sunday per semester prior finals week.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><em>The above job description supersedes all previous descriptions. &nbsp;This description is intended to be a tool to describe the primary purpose of the job and the Essential Functions and Responsibilities. &nbsp; The job description may not be inclusive of all duties and job responsibilities. &nbsp;Administration has the right to add to or change the job responsibilities to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods at any time.</em></p><p>&nbsp;</p><strong><u>Required Qualifications</u></strong><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Life Science and Biology or related field.</li><li>Strong communication, instructional, and organizational skills.</li><li>Training/certification in Biology/Microbiology/Anatomy instruction.</li><li>Experience working with Hispanic, &ldquo;high-risk&rdquo;, and underprepared students.</li><li>Working knowledge of the internet, email, and computer skills in Microsoft Office.</li><li>Obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Driver&rsquo;s License.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><strong><u>Preferred Qualifications</u></strong><ul><li>Master&rsquo;s Degree in Biology/Microbiology/Anatomy or closely related field.</li><li>Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).</li><li>Experience teaching English language learners.</li><li>Experience teaching adults and/or students in the community college setting.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><strong><u>Supervisory Responsibilities</u></strong><ul><li>None.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><strong><u>Physical Requirements</u></strong> &ndash; with or without assistance.<ul><li>Ability to hear informational speaker in conversational voice at a distance of 10 feet and by telephone.</li><li>Ability to speak clearly and audibly to individuals in person and on the telephone.</li><li>Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.</li><li>Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.</li><li>Ability to access classroom, office, and other school locations.</li><li>Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.</li><li>Ability to do any physical work assigned.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
