    "description": "<h2>About JerseySTEM</h2>\n<p><strong>All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.</strong>JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.</p>\n<p>Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a <strong>minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week </strong>and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>This is a pro-bono volunteer position.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Deputy Department Head will assist the Department Head in leading initiatives with NJ Universities and Colleges to recruit volunteer instructors.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Support and collaborate with teams in Business Development, Student Groups, and Individuals.</li>\n <li>Participate in hiring, budgeting, and marketing activities to ensure smooth college engagement operations.</li>\n <li>Help streamline college engagement processes and improve the effectiveness of volunteer recruitment.</li>\n <li>Represent COLE in leadership meetings and contribute to budgeting and planning activities.</li>\n <li>Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Department Head, ensuring continuity in departmental operations.</li>\n <li>Foster positive relationships with college partners and stakeholders to strengthen JerseySTEM's presence in educational institutions.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap</li>\n <li>Strong leadership/team building skills</li>\n <li>Resourceful, can-do attitude</li>\n <li>Experience with Universities and College campuses</li>\n <li>Outreach experience preferred</li>\n <li>Experience leading a function (i.e. team, department manager, etc) and managing others</li>\n <li>Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)</li>\n <li>Would be a plus if candidate has flexible schedule to allow for day time calls with the school admins during the work week</li>\n</ul>",
