    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder in nuclear submarines, is seeking a <strong>Material Controller for the Plate Yard.</strong> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Benefits:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical, Dental, Vision</li>\n <li>Prescription Coverage</li>\n <li>Health and Wellness Programs</li>\n <li>401K</li>\n <li>Commuter/Van Services</li>\n <li>Paid Vacation and Holidays</li>\n <li>Paid Training</li>\n <li>Shift Differential for 2nd and 3rd Shift</li>\n <li>Professional Development and Advancement Opportunities</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Material Controller for the Plate Yard will be required to receive, identify, locate, retrieve and sort materials.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Responsible for tallying types and quantities of items against receiving reports, material move tags, packing slips and shipping documents</li>\n <li>Locate material according to size, shape, weight or stock number and palletize material securely to pallet boxes, etc</li>\n <li>Will be required to operate the rotary (15k) lift</li>\n <li>Will be required to safely burn shapes material with a torch (Oxy Torch)</li>\n <li>The individual will be required to work outside in all types of weather conditions</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>This position requires work to be performed outside; involves adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/snow/rain/wind, etc.)</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>This position is located at the Quonset Point facility </em></strong></p>\n<p><strong><em>in North Kingstown, RI location.</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent or 2 plus years of related technical experience </li>\n <li>1 plus years of Material Control experience </li>\n <li>Previous Forklift experience</li>\n <li>Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to timely obtain a license for electric, propane or diesel fork lifts with a capacity of up to 30 tons</li>\n <li>Must be available to work all shifts, and work in extreme temperature & weather conditions as required</li>\n <li>Ability to interpret shipyard procedures, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams</li>\n <li>Must be able to handle/lift heavy items within the safety guidelines</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Preferred:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of metal types </li>\n <li>Basic knowledge of MRP/material tracking system</li>\n <li>The ability to operate various burning equipment</li>\n <li>Military/Navy experience </li>\n <li>Previous military experience </li>\n <li>Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs</li>\n <li>Shipyard experience </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must possess basic mathematical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills</li>\n <li>Must have strong commitment toward safety</li>\n <li>Applicant will be required to work independently as well as in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Qualifications</h2>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting\n<h2>Environmental Attributes</h2>Acids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet",
