Description

Overview We are seeking an Engineer Intern (EI) with 2-5 years of professional experience to be part of our Transportation Roadway Division in our Raleigh, NC office . In this position, you will assist in the development of transportation design projects for clients such as state, county and municipal transportation agencies. The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from a number of delivery methods including conventional Bid-Build and Design-Build projects. Over the last two decades, WGI has delivered a variety of transportation projects in the state of North Carolina. Generate construction plans using Bentley OpenRoads Perform construction quantity estimates Cross-train in other transportation disciplines, including drainage, signing and pavement marking, and maintenance of traffic Develop plans, calculations and specifications among multi-discipline engineering teams Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam – EI registration a strong plus Experience with Microstation/Bentley OpenRoads Familiarity with NCDOT plans preparation criteria and design standards a plus Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and work on large multi-discipline engineering teams Physical Demands The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in an office setting. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. Use of a telephone headset will allow for virtual communication with team members through Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
