Description
Virginia Veterinary Centers in Short Pump, VA is hiring a full- time LVT to join our Critical Care team!
Compensation: Compensation is based on experience and skill set, ranging from $30-35/hr. Primary Responsibilities: Obtain patient vitals and report any abnormalities to DVM. Maintain Recovery BLS and ALS certification. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate understanding of advanced disease processes including but not limited to: leptospirosis, tetanus, varying types of sepsis, varying types of shock, acute and chronic renal and hepatic injuries Above average venipuncture skills Ability to place, maintain, and trouble shoot a wide variety to catheter including but not limited too: jugular catheters, PICC lines, Arterial lines, female and male Urinary Catheters Calculate and adjust advanced CRIs including but not limited to: Fentanyl, Lidocaine, Norepinephrine, Dextrose, Insulin, KCL, KPhos Calculate and administer IV medications. Set up, Operate, and Maintain Hi-Flow Oxygen Set up, Operate, and maintain the CC Ventilator Collecting diagnostic samples, advanced imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to Veterinarians. Facilitate proper procedure for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to outside laboratories. Assist Veterinarians in all aspects during treatment/hospitalization and procedures from developing anesthetic protocol, administration of pre-medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance, and monitoring of general anesthesia, assist in surgical procedure as needed, recovery care of patients post anesthetic episodes, proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring, and understanding side effects of anesthetic agents being administered. Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients. Practicing patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as when triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners Understanding and able to perform proper medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policy and the board of veterinary medical standards. Conducting yourself in a professional manner each shift while providing continued support to your team members, patients, and clients. Following proper OSHA protocols and ensure OSHA related trainings are conducted by designated timelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and team members. Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership and direct supervisors while on shift. On-Call availability for Criticalist Why choose VVC? KPhos</li><li>Calculate and administer IV medications.</li><li>Set up, Operate, and Maintain Hi-Flow Oxygen</li><li>Set up, Operate, and maintain the CC Ventilator</li><li>Collecting diagnostic samples, advanced imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to Veterinarians.</li><li>Facilitate proper procedure for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to outside laboratories.</li><li>Assist Veterinarians in all aspects during treatment/hospitalization and procedures from developing anesthetic protocol, administration of pre-medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance, and monitoring of general anesthesia, assist in surgical procedure as needed, recovery care of patients post anesthetic episodes, proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring, and understanding side effects of anesthetic agents being administered.</li><li>Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients.</li><li>Practicing patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as when triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients</li><li>Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners</li><li>Understanding and able to perform proper medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policy and the board of veterinary medical standards.</li><li>Conducting yourself in a professional manner each shift while providing continued support to your team members, patients, and clients.</li><li>Following proper OSHA protocols and
