Your Day to Day:
Provide technical supervision of microbiology testing.
Ensure compliance with CLIA, MA DPH regulations, and accreditation standards.
Validate and verify assays, instruments, and test performance.
Develop, review, and maintain laboratory SOPs.
Monitor quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing.
Investigate quality events and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Provide technical guidance and competency oversight for laboratory staff.
Participate in inspections, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Perform moderate‑ and/or high‑complexity laboratory testing.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience (one required):
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science + 3 years microbiology experience, or
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science + 4 years microbiology experience, or
Master’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science + 3 years microbiology experience, or
Doctoral degree in physical, chemical, or biological science + 2 years microbiology experience.
Additional Requirements:
Strong knowledge of CLIA (42 CFR 493).
Familiarity with Massachusetts Clinical Laboratory regulations.
Experience with method validation, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
Strong leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
