Description
The University of Pikeville Tanner College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) invites applications for a part-time, grant-funded Project Director to support a pediatric dental public health initiative focused on improving access to care in Central Appalachia through community-based data collection and teledentistry engagement. This position is funded through 2026.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and conduct community-based data collection activities, including facilitating focus groups and administering surveys to individuals within designated population groups.
Engage parents, caregivers, and community members in a culturally responsive and respectful manner.
Serve as a liaison between the Tanner College of Dental Medicine and community partners, including schools, churches, and community organizations.
Maintain accurate documentation of project activities and provide routine updates to supervising faculty.
Support implementation of project activities in alignment with grant objectives and timelines.
Complete other activities as directed to support the grant objectives.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required for the position.
Licensure/Certification
Certification as a Community Health Worker (CHW) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Required Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of experience working as a dental assistant.
Demonstrated ability to engage patients and families in community or clinical settings.
Familiarity with Central Appalachia and Eastern Kentucky, including local communities and barriers to care.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and travel locally within the region as needed.
Experience with community outreach, patient navigation, or public health initiatives.
Position may involve a combination of on-campus, community-based, and remote work.
