Description FLEX HIGH SCHOOL OHIO Full Time, Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m - 3:30 p.m. Compensation: Competitive compensation package starting from $17.68/hour Do you have a passion to work one-on-one with students and help them soar? As a Paraprofessional at Flex High School, you will encourage, challenge, and help students grow in confidence and academics, and graduate high school – no matter their obstacle. The Flex High Advantage Our personalized learning model is what makes Flex High School unique. Our students are at the center of our mission, which means that staff is unified and priorities are set to reach the best outcome for all students. Some the other advantages we offer are: Our student-counselor ratio is 1:250, which is far below many traditional schools. We offer free tutors for students and labs that supplement their instruction and reduce academic discouragement. With the support of Lifelong Learning, an educational services organization, staff receives all the tools/resources needed to do their job without any personal financial investment. We provide ongoing professional learning, continuing education (subsidized), career advancement opportunities for staff throughout the school year. Our staff has a close relationship with and is supported by their area supervisor/leadership. We empower them to succeed. We operate year-round with generous holiday, vacation, and seasonal breaks. This position will assist appropriate educators in servicing students in the specialized program. Paraprofessional completes paperwork, perform data entry, completes organizational tasks, and provide tutoring support to students in the specialized program. This position reports to Principal or designee. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: This job description is intended to accurately reflect the duties, responsibilities, and requirements of the position. It is not intended to be and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of all the responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with this classification. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Assist educators in their instructional duties and other general responsibilities such as organizing and providing tutorial support. Provide additional student support including accommodations and online assessments. Assist in related data entry for students enrolling in the program or school. Facilitate program implementation and support maintenance efforts such as student transportation, guest speakers, career fairs, field trips, etc. Alert the educator to student behavior issues or other program challenges. Assist in monitoring and proctoring student assignment and tests. Perform clerical tasks for teachers as needed, to include coordination, scheduling of and participation in meetings when requested. Assist educators in contacting parents or adult students and assist in retrieving required forms. Participate in Student Study Team or other meetings relating to student success. Aid the educator in rendering additional attention or data collection for particular students. Demonstrate willingness to learn and build expertise in relevant content areas. Follow directions for activities involved in the development and implementation of student learning plans Translate communications between students and teachers. Adhere to attendance policies. Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned, which may be changed or modified from time to time. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Ability to read, understand information, and carry out oral and written directions. Ability to meet schedules and timelines. Ability to work in team environments and with multiple levels of personnel. Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules. Ability to work in a high-volume and fast-paced environment. Ability to perform data entry and maintain records correctly. Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships. Organizational skills Ability to work with diverse youth populations. Ability to collaborate with various people to support student learning and development. Self-sufficient, resourceful, and committed to providing excellent customer service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree or one-year equivalent work experience demonstrating applicable skills in a relevant industry or discipline. required Experience working with students. Experience working with low economic and at-risk populations. Experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs, student who are deaf or hard of hearing, or in the related Career Technical Education or Literacy content area. Proficient Level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, dependability, high quality, and quantity required. Ability to travel in performance of job, duties is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolong periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment. Hearing: Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information. Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or remote, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer. Mental Demands: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work. Understand how to manage stress. high workflow management, high project coordination, and high people engagement. Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together, use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head. Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work in a low to moderate noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
