This position provides a superior experience to members and participants by leading swim lessons, swim league program, and aquatics programs in a safe, effective, and engaging manner. We are a place where you can belong and become. </p>\n<p><strong>We are genuine:</strong> we value you and embrace your individuality. </p>\n<p><strong>We are hopeful:</strong> we believe in you and your potential to become a catalyst in the world. </p>\n<p><strong>We are nurturing:</strong> we support you in your journey to develop your full potential. </p>\n<p><strong>We are determined:</strong> above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Instruction & Program Delivery</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepare and lead assigned swim classes with appropriate structure, instructional methods, and equipment.</li>\n <li>Keep lessons dynamic by incorporating new skills, drills, and progressions to support ongoing development.</li>\n <li>Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to participants (or their parents) about their progress and areas for improvement.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Participant Engagement & Customer Service</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Greet and welcome participants at the beginning of each class to create a positive and engaging tone.</li>\n <li>Respond appropriately and promptly to all member and guest needs or concerns, escalating unresolved issues to the supervisor.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Facility & Equipment Care</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked, and organized work area.</li>\n <li>Report equipment needs or concerns to the supervisor promptly.</li>\n <li>Ensure all aquatics equipment is properly cleaned and stored after each session.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Professional Standards</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Wear the required uniform to uphold a professional appearance and align with YMCA branding standards.</li>\n <li>Maintain current instructional certifications relevant to the position.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Staff Training & Development</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide coaching and mentorship to Swim Instructor Level I staff, offering guidance on performance expectations and supporting Aquatics leadership in upholding policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Assist with the training and onboarding of new Swim Instructors</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Child Safety & Risk Management</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain vigilance in supervising aquatic environments, including locker rooms, restrooms, and storage areas.</li>\n <li>Consistently follow safety procedures during instruction, transitions, and emergencies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Other expectations</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.</li>\n <li>Attend/complete required abuse risk management training</li>\n <li>Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.</li>\n <li>Follow mandated reporting requirements.</li>\n <li>Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.\n  <ul>\n   <li>Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>*Shifts May Vary*</strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>At least (1) One year of experience in aquatics instruction, lifeguarding, or youth programming preferred.</li>\n <li>Strong communication and customer service skills with enthusiasm for youth development and safety.</li>\n <li>Ability to enforce policies, respond calmly in emergencies, and lead structured swim instruction.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Certifications Required (within specified timeframes):</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bloodborne Pathogens Training – within 30 days</li>\n <li>CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification – within 30 days</li>\n <li>YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) Certification – within 6 months</li>\n</ul>",
