    "description": "<p>Atlas Excavating bids and builds the work most contractors avoid; deep sanitary sewer, wet excavation, groundwater control, bypass pumping, and heavy underground utilities. We own our equipment and self-perform dewatering, so our estimates are grounded in real production—not wishful allowances.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The role</span><br>You’ll own estimates from first review through bid day submission and post-bid scope review, pricing real means/methods (crews, production, trucking, shoring, bypass, dewatering approach) for public and private work across NW Indiana / Chicagoland.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you’ll do</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build complete bids: invite → takeoff → quotes → pricing → bid day submission → post-bid recap</li>\n<li>Perform quantity takeoffs (pipe/structures/earthwork/restoration/traffic control as applicable)</li>\n<li>Price means/methods with field reality: production rates, crew plans, trucking, shoring/boxes, bypass pumping, dewatering strategy</li>\n<li>Solicit/level quotes and ensure full scope coverage (no gaps, no double-counting)</li>\n<li>Produce a clear bid recap: assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, risk items, alternates</li>\n<li>Support award handoff to PM/ops to protect the estimate in execution</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What we’re looking for</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>4+ years estimating experience; underground utilities / heavy civil (sanitary/storm/water) preferred</li>\n<li>Comfortable with public bid environments (addenda, bid forms, unit prices, bonds)</li>\n<li>Strong plan/spec reading and disciplined documentation of assumptions</li>\n<li>Excel proficiency; clean, repeatable estimating habits</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tools</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bluebeam + Excel (required)</li>\n<li>HCSS HeavyBid (strongly preferred)</li>\n<li>AGTEK (nice to have)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you get at Atlas</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A contractor that self-performs and has the equipment to back up the plan</li>\n<li>A seat with real ownership of bids and visibility with leadership</li>\n<li>Health/Dental/Vision + Life/AD&amp;D</li>\n<li>Company-paid life insurance</li>\n<li>Voluntary life insurance</li>\n<li>401(k) match up to 5%</li>\n<li>Discretionary Profit Sharing Contribution</li>\n<li>Employee Assistance Program</li>\n<li>Tuition Reimbursement</li>\n<li>PTO</li>\n<li>Paid Holidays</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Location: Crown Point, Indiana area (within -60 miles) </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Atlas is an equal opportunity employer.
