Description
Overview
At Mahaska Health a Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care to the sick and injured of Mahaska County, directing and coordinating patient care between inter-facility specialist departments and outside specialty hospitals. Perform patient care in the ED and throughout the organization. Coordinate efficient patient care workflow to ensure timely and appropriate treatment of the sick and injured. Coordinates patient education and activities of interdisciplinary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing in accordance with the established methods and procedures of Mahaska Health Partnership.
$10,000 Sign on Bonus
Hours:
Full-time: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 11:00am - 11:00pm
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
Gives skilled nursing care to assigned patients.
Assess and document the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social dimensions of patients on admission.
Establish treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnoses.
Initiate, implement, and modify an interdisciplinary plan of care individualized to each patient's assessed needs including family.
Utilize all available resources in planning care and consult as necessary with physicians, supervisors, and interdisciplinary services.
Provide ongoing reassessment and documentation of the patient's status.
Perceive patient problems and/or complications through assessment skills and implements appropriate action.
Document nursing intervention and patient response.
Safely prepare, administer, and document medications and IV therapy.
Assess for and provide patient and family education at their level of understanding regarding disease process and treatment plan.
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Organize workload effectively to accomplish care in a timely manner.
Utilize documentation methods as approved by Mahaska Health Partnership.
Accurately transcribe and communicate oral and written physician orders.
Communicate pertinent information regarding the patient’s status to appropriate interdisciplinary team members in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Requirements include but are not limited to:
A graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa (or) a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse able to work in the state of Iowa.
Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association.
Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.
Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.
Required to be certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within one year of hire.
Required to be certified in TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core) within 1 year of hire.
Required to complete 16 hours of continuing trauma medical education every 4 years. 4 hours of the continuing education will be formal and 12 hours may be informal.
Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention training (CPI) or equivalent.
