Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Job Summary</strong>: The Explosives Detection Canine (EDC) Handler (Armed) plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and safety of client shopping mall locations by conducting thorough searches for explosives alongside an explosives detection canine.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Duties/Responsibilities</strong>:</p><ul><li>The EDC Handler will be paired with an explosives detection canine and will search for explosives at client shopping mall location(s).</li><li>The EDC Handler shall operate canine in accordance with the program and perform alarm resolution services as needed.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall liaise with clients, security personnel, law enforcement representatives, and other client partners to properly execute client security plans and procedures.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall maintain professional, effective verbal and written communication with client and company management.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall adhere to a customer service focused mission.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall maintain a professional image and demeanor and possess high quality customer service skills.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall be flexible to handle last-minute shift changes and/or post changes to meet client requirements.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall maintain canine proficiency in accordance with contract policies and procedures and maintain required annual certifications.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall maintain day-to-day health and welfare of assigned canine and perform basic canine emergency first-aid, if necessary.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall properly maintain all issued equipment and uniforms.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall participate in scheduled canine training events.</li><li>The EDC Handler shall obtain and maintain any state security officer licensing requirements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience</strong>:</p><ul><li>Must be a US citizen.</li><li>Must pass criminal background checks including drug testing.</li><li>Must possess California State Armed Security and Firearms License.</li><li>Must possess California Baton Permit</li><li>Must possess California OC/Pepper Spray Permit</li><li>Must possess handcuffing OR MDTS certification&nbsp;</li><li>Must have the ability to house and care for the canine in your personal residence.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience</strong>:</p><ul><li>Legally own and possess a California registered approved Glock 9mm or Sig Sauer P320 semiautomatic pistol.</li><li>Prior law enforcement or military canine handling experience.</li><li>Prior body-borne or person-borne canine handling experience.</li><li>Standby duty willingness and availability.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Work Environment</strong>:</p><p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
