Description

Job Purpose To lead and manage all aspects of the organization’s inbound warehouse operations, including but not limited to container unloading, put-away, inventory control/reconciliation, the efficient and organized use of storage space and maintenance of equipment and warehouse assets. Reports to the Chief Operating and Sales Officer (COSO). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Warehouse Operations/ Inventory Control: Coordinate the scheduling, receiving and off-loading of all containers. In conjunction with Procurement/ Logistics team ensure movement of containers is properly planned and prioritized between docks, outside storage and main warehouse location. Issue biweekly container status report. Verify accuracy of offloaded received product quantities and product condition and report variances to Procurement/Logistics team. Ensure all on island product stock is readily available for sale in Epicor and for physical picking/shipment at main warehouse. Maintain efficient and effective use of warehouse space and the accurate put-away of product by bin location in beer hall, all picking areas and secondary storage areas on 2nd/3rd floors. Manage movement/replenishment of product between secondary storage and picking areas. Oversight for all beer hall picking including palletizing of orders for large accounts, verifying of picked and staged product against orders, loading and deployment of delivery trucks. Manage the rotation of product especially in beer hall to ensure best before dates are not exceeded before product is depleted and consumed in market. Schedule the shared use of warehouseman personnel with Warehouse Manager – Outbound to ensure effective use of labour between container unloading and delivery assistant functions. Plan for use of temporary personnel i.e. occasional labour and summer students as needed. Verify inventory levels by conducting physical counts. Assist in cycle counting as required. Report any shortage, surplus or losses of inventory and errors to Procurement/Logistics and Finance Dept’s Manage, record and report all breakages for respective warehouse areas. Responsible for Recoup area. Work with COSO to complete annual expense and capex budgets along with setting performance metrics (see Key Success Metrics below) for their warehouse division. Propose process improvements where needed to drive efficiency and effectiveness. In the absence of the Warehouse Manager – Outbound, oversee the daily operations of the entire warehouse including wines and spirits order fulfillment and deliveries. Directly manage, develop and motivate their assigned Warehouse hourly personnel to solve day-to-day operational issues and achieve short and long-term performance goals. Conduct formal appraisals, goal setting, performance warnings and assist with hiring and transitioning out of employees. Meet weekly with COSO/Warehouse Operations team to review, analyse and develop actionable plans for continuous service level and productivity improvements. Oversight for all warehouse vehicles, equipment, tools, and machinery and ensuring their regular maintenance, insurance/TCD licencing and recommend replacements, if needed, of such assets. This includes delivery trucks/vans, forklifts and freight elevator. Safeguard warehouse assets and product inventory by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Manage return of empty beer kegs to suppliers. Adhere to health & safety policies and quality standards. Maintain tidiness and cleanliness standards of the warehouse. Any other duties reasonably assigned by the COSO. Key Success Metrics include : a) minimize aging of full containers under our control b)  meet or reduce demurrage and outside storage expense budgets c)  meet or reduce labour and overtime expense budgets for assigned staff d)  minimize $ stock write offs due to product expiration e)  meet service level targets for large account order fulfillment in beer hall  f)   meet targets for % inventory shrinkage Job Specifications Education - High School Diploma, post-secondary degree in Business preferred. Job-related Experience At least 5 years as a senior manager in a busy warehouse distribution environment (preferably food and/or beverage) including supervision of employees and their performance management Experience with advanced order fulfilment, wireless scanning and inventory management computer systems. Beverage alcohol product knowledge preferred Computer Skills Strong computer skills and sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook), ERP tools (Epicor Kinetic preferred) and MS Power BI Skills/Attributes Proficient knowledge of warehouse procedure and policy Demonstrate good verbal & written communication skills Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills Detail orientated with strong follow-through skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to make recommendation to effect change Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively Handle confidential information with complete integrity Ability to work as a team player Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays Physical Demands -  The employee may be required to lift boxes of up to 50 lbs.
