    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities while complying with company Safety Management System and State & Federal regulations.  </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Create load/discharge plans for trim, stability, and safe cargo operations. </li>\n <li>Monitor product level in tanks while topping off tanks, stripping cargo tanks, and using drip samplers. </li>\n <li>Operate mooring winches, anchor winches, diesel engines, cargo pumps, tank/pipeline valves, cargo tank heater/boilers, IG Systems, manual and hydraulic booms/cranes, hand tools, and gas meters. </li>\n <li>Use and care of manual, hermetic, and MMC tapes for proper gauging. </li>\n <li>Hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping.</li>\n <li>Ability to understand piping diagrams and proper valve alignment for cargo segregations, as well as loading manuals & vapor calculation manuals. </li>\n <li>Accurately fill out Bill of Ladings, Barge Logs, DOI’s, BDN’s, and all other job related paperwork. </li>\n <li>Perform routine maintenance (oil changes/greasing/chipping/painting/etc.), and maintain cleanliness aboard both tug and barge as directed by the Master or Mate.</li>\n <li>Continually inspect vessel for Coast Guard and state regulatory compliance.</li>\n <li>Assist Operations & Engineering with Annual USCG/ABS inspections. </li>\n <li>Effectively communicate with foreign crews and oil facility personnel. </li>\n <li>Ability to think and respond quickly in emergency situations.</li>\n <li>Use of emergency equipment such as lifesaving, damage control, and safety equipment. </li>\n <li>Occasional use of air purifying respirator, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and air monitoring equipment for hazardous cargos.</li>\n <li>Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, maneuver cargo hoses, handle barge lines and Yokohama fenders.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as assigned by Master, Mate, or Direct Supervisors.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be at least age 18. </li>\n <li>Possess a valid USCG Merchant Mariners Document with Tankerman PIC endorsement.</li>\n <li>Must possess valid STCW endorsements for RFPNW, Basic Training, and Vessel Security.</li>\n <li>Previous experience as a tank barge PIC on oil barges required.</li>\n <li>Experience with clean product and multiple cargos preferred. </li>\n <li>Possess a valid driver’s license, TWIC Card, and Passport. </li>\n <li>Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.</li>\n <li>Must have a valid 24 hr HAZWOPER.</li>\n <li>Basic computer knowledge and skills.</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Job Condition and Environment</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Use of Air purifying respirator, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), air monitoring equipment, hearing protection, VHF radio, hand tools, tow lines, high level alarms and thermometer.</li>\n <li>Operates diesel engines, cargo pumps, hydraulic booms, cargo gear, gate valves, and butterfly valves. </li>\n <li>Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)</li>\n <li>Must not be afraid of heights.</li>\n <li>Olympic Tug & Barge vessels occasionally travel into Canada.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Expected Hours of Work</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to adapt to a variety of schedules and hours</li>\n <li>Able to work weekends, holidays, and at night.
